It's been almost 5 years since we've owned our rig, never once used the TV at the upper bunk.
Has anyone found the adapter plug needed to connect my iPhone or iPad to play movies and whatnot
on the TV? A make, model # or other specifics would be appreciated so I can hopefully find it on my
go to shopping on Amazon.

It depends on whether your iDevice has a Lightning or USB C connector. If it has a Lightning connector, I recommend the Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter (link here). I own one of these. If it has a USB C connector, you might try the Belkin Connect USB-C to HDMI Adapter (link here). I do not own one of these.

There are many less-expensive products than the two listed above. I have found that few last as long or are as trouble-free. You may be able to buy either for less, through a different seller.

Unless you are storing TV and movies on your devices then you are streaming content to the phone and wanting a cable to connect the TV to your device. But that’s not necessarily the best way to go.

Use your device as a hotspot and stream content to a streamer connected via HDMI to your TV.

Your choice of streamer is up to you. A Roku, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire or Apple TV would all work well for this purpose.

If you are actually storing videos, TV shows or movies on your iPhone or Tablet then perhaps you could benefit from a cord but there are other ways to better do that as well, such as using a HD to store the content and using Plex Server. But I’m betting that you really want to stream those things.

I often find issues streaming Comcast and Prime to TV using wireless, from my old iPad, a real pita. Apple seems to be ok with wireless to my TV but that is a paid service.
Even when connected directly with the wired Apple connector mentioned above, it often will not play movie on my iPad to TV, maybe copyright protection…

I have streaming for the past 7 years using a lightning dongle and it has been very uneven and frustrating but eventfully I got it work.

this year, I bought an ipad which uses a usb-c dongle. It worked flawlessly for our 4 month trip. It was so nice to just plug and project to the tv.

My advice, get a usb-c ipad and matching dongle and stream away to your tv.
