Hi Folks. It's been a while since I posted, but I thought this might interest some. The Pots & Pans Drawer is deeper than we needed for that purpose and there is not enough convenient drawer space for all our kitchenware. I extended the hight of the side walls in the Pots & Pans Drawer and added a slider tray for kitchenware. I used the same 24"-long drawer slides I used for my Pantry Slides Project (See my earlier post.). In this case, I cut off both ends of the slides and mounted the four wheels on my slide tray for this project. I then cut a spot out of the top of the slides so that my tray is removable. See the attached photos.

Good Job, the 2108 is so limited in usable drawer space for cookware, grocery and small campwear.

Here is a picture of my two tier kitchen drawer. The top section of the rear of the deep drawer is cut out, so the top tier can slide back into the cabinet when the drawer is open. This allows for a full size top tier.

The soft close slide on the drawer box is installed as normal, allowing the drawer to open. The soft close slide on the top tier is installed in reverse, allowing the top tier to slide away from the drawer box to get at items in the lower tier.

Keep those ideas coming.

Hi Bruce,
Excellent idea and well done!
Thank you for posting the photos.

I did not do it in the small drawer done here, was cause with the 2 side mount slides, I would have lost 1" of interior space.

With that wide drawer under the stove, Its a great idea. You also get to pick up space by closing the gap from the top of original drawer to underside of cooktop.

One thing to consider is what clearance does the cooktop manufacturer suggest, below the cooktop (fire hazard).

Always do something there non combustible too.

Hi bcborn,

I went back and re-did my pots and pans drawer to make it more like your example. I looked up the installation guide for the stove. It wanted only 4.125 inches to the next shelf below it. In fact, Winnebago had already installed a wooden shelf above the pots and pans drawer just beneath the stove! Thus, I don't think combustibility is an issue. So, here are some photos of what I ended up with. The inserts are from Walmart. I love this implementation! Thanks for your suggestion!

Great idea. However, the weight capacity of the drawer is very limited without modifications. The tiny screws attaching the sliders to the side drawer panels are not long enough, and in my drawer they got ripped out on both sides. I had to glue in a piece of wood on the inside bottom sides, to accommodate longer and thicker screws that can now carry the weight of pots, etc. in the drawer. In addition, I added two more latches as the drawer kept opening while traveling.

Completed mine today. designed to hold spices in the larger bottles. Used 1 x 6 Poplar and notched to slide over side. Glued and stapled. Bottom is 1/4 ply, front 5/8 ply, sides 3/8 ply and back 1/2' ply. (scraps kicking around)

Used 20" drawer slides and made the drawer 17 1/2" long to avoid contact with gas line feeding cooktop when closed. The longer slides allows the spice drawer to clear the pots and pans drawer when slide back into the cupboard.

Drawer is 2 3/8 high with a 5/16 clearance below. I installed the RV typical drawer catch, recessed in the front cross member, (shown in 1st picture4, bottom center of drawer). This and the typical slide catches, should keep it closed while traveling.
