2023 Travato 59GL 9-speed transmission?

I've got a 2023 Travato 59GL with the 9 speed 62TE automatic transmission. I've never noticed it shift any higher than 7th gear even when I've attempted to manually select 8th or 9th gear on an interstate downhill with no real load on the engine.

7th gear seems to be plenty tall enough for any interstate driving I've done, so I'm wondering why they put a 9 speed transmission in the van to begin with. I'm curious if they've just locked out 8th and 9th gear in the software.

Does anyone have any knowledge on this?

Your 2023 Winnebago Travato 59GL is two things, a RAM Promaster chassis and a Winnebago “house” built on the chassis.

For any info on the chassis, including the drivetrain, turn to the chassis manufacturer’s owner’s manual, website, forum sites, Facebook group site etc.

I believe the confusion is that the pre-2023 promasters had a 6 speed and the 2023 models and beyond have the 9 speed.

It's likely that the folks at Winnebago that wrote the brochure have no idea what they're talking about about.

Generally, you can run the VIN (not Winnebago serial number) in various online resources and see the exact build of the RAM chassis.
