A member with a 2023 Minnie Winnie 22M is considering replacing both the coach battery setup and the truck battery after seeing acid leakage, especially with the RV stored in Georgia heat. They asked about affordable AGM or lithium options and mentioned considering two LiTime 12V 100Ah Group 24 LiFePO4 batteries.

Members described three main paths: staying with lead-acid as the lowest-cost option with no electrical modifications, moving to AGM for less maintenance and reduced acid-related...

It's looking like It's getting to be the time to replace the cabin (and the actual truck) battery on my Minnie Winnie, I was looking at potentially replacing them with lithium or AGM batteries (although they are fairly expensive) since the current batteries seem to be leaking acid at the tops (which, considering there being stored in Georgia and it's fairly hot, can be somewhat expected) Was wondering if anyone had a decent (and preferably affordable) brand to go with, I was looking at 2 LiTime 12V 100Ah BCI Group 24 Lithium Battery 1.28kWh Rechargeable LiFePO4 Battery for RVs Motorhome and wasn't sure if anyone had better alternatives.

When the time comes for me to replace my 7½ year old lead-acid batteries, I am planning upon replacing them with new lead-acid batteries. It is the least expensive option and requires no modifications to your electrical system.

I am willing to paythe small difference for AGM for the reduced work involved! I have done lots of battery work over the years and really know myself as not wanting to put out the effort needed, so I'm willing to pay to reduce the work and damage involved with lead acid where the acid is free to get out of the battery!
I am not a heavy 12VDc power user, so the large jump from lead to lithium for coach use has not been worth it for me.
But that depends a great deal on what we each do. In my case, we have done the "roughing it" and no longer have the drive to want to move from the government provided campgrounds, into the parking lot type campground, nor do we want to move back down to a lack of electricity and running water phase! We find far too many of those "in between" type campgrounds that we like. But that is often very much a personal feelng about where you want to go.
We tend to avoid most cities and would far rather be down by the lakeshore, etc.! NOT a fan of super cold nor super hot, so our power uses are quite easily handled by the mid range batteries with less work involved!

Changing to Lithium batteries does require updated changing equipment on older RVs. However, there are so many benefits from doing so that it really can be worth the expense and the work involved.

More power, much faster charging, less discharge in storage and all at vastly lighter weight make compelling agreements for the switch.

Folks that have never experienced these benefits will focus on the costs but really can’t offer the other side of the story.

Do your research about these benefits and you’ll likely decide, like a majority of other RVers and practically all current RV manufacturers, that replacing lead acid batteries with newer LiFePO4 battery technology makes perfect sense for most users.

Richard, sounds like you are back into RV ownership. That’s great news. What did you end up going with for your new RV?

So far we have not gotten our own again but have been trying out some of the other ways to travel. Some have been good, some not. As our family has grown and evolved, we are finding different needs and not really found the solution!
We had thought we might like flying and renting but our last experience eating out in Florida has set that back and we are likely scratching that whole state off our travel list!
At this point we are just on cruise control and waiting for something to change that might move us in some direction!

If you decide to go with the lead/acid battery type, Napa auto batteries are what I've replaced my house batteries with the last 2 times. They are super good and last quite a long time. I have no experience with AGM or Li types so I wouldn't be able to help you in that area. Just my .02.

AGM batteries at Costco are very reasonable.
