Renovating the Underbed Storage Compartment on our 2023 Micro MInnie 2108FBS.

The Compartment Depth is being increased from 29 1/2" to 34" to accommodate our 300AH Lithium Battery, Deep Storage on one side, Platform Storage across the top and Dual 20.5 W x 20.5 D x 10" High Drawers below the platform. The Cutouts for the Drawer Boxes are designed to accommodate OEM Drawer Fronts (7/16" overlap) to match interior.

The cutouts from the front face will be utilized to fill the space created by moving the compartment 4 1/2" towards the middle of the trailer. The pieces will stacked vertically (Retain Vertical Grain Pattern) and be laminated to 1/4 ply to stay flush. The finished piece will be split Vertically in half, each half to be used fill space between the storage compartment and the Underbed Compartment which moved back. 6 x 6 Ventilation Grills will be places in lower portion here.

Comes to mind lithium batteries get very warm and having them enclosed under wood is questionable can you access the batteries from outside? Burning bed check all the safety boxes and use quality don’t skimp here

Thanks, will keep an eye on that.

Area that's housing the battery is much larger than the battery itself and has 40 sq/in of venting both ends to allow heat to escape.

Test fitted before laminating panel sides back on and building drawers.

That's it for 2025, come spring will purchase the electrical components including temp controlled fan and then wire it all together.

Panel cutouts from the drawers joined together nicely to fill in the extension, making it seamless. This was a good project, hope it gives you all some ideas.

Nice work Lyle!
I stretched my bed with a 6” extension and longer upper platform piece when I first bought it. I was going to add some drawers like you did, but at the end of last year before I put it in heated storage for the winter I broke the upper shelf in the large cabinet in the rear.
I think a bounce made my portable solar panel bounce up and broke thru the shelf! It was there for 2 years with no problem.
I think WBGO skipped the. Construction adhesive on that shelf, lower one has adhesive.
It was stapled from the outside before the Azek skins were attached so no attachment possible 😤
I am using construction adhesive where the staples pulled thru the Luan wall and building a mini 1x1 stud wall on each side to add support from the bottom shelf.
Does yours show any construction adhesive on that upper shelf in the bathroom?
My lower shelf is glued in, I think they just missed on mine.
BTW, you’ll have to make sure no bedding covers your vent fans!

Aaahh, maybe my lower shelf they were just a bit messy with the glue.
The shelf piece itself was glued and stapled down to the “1x1” rails that hold the shelf. The rails were stapled in from the rear side and there was glue on the bottom shelf rails, just oozed out a bit from expansion.
