2023 Navion 24D:
Got a interesting problem. Fresh water tank that when (at any level) is hooked up to water source the tank fills up (when not selected FILL) and over flows. When water is removed from source and tank fill is selected water comes out of over flow.
Any suggestions?

A couple thoughts may point to something to review but first let me point to my favorite tools for looking at things like the water lines:
This interactive parts lets you go tot eh correct RV, then to the plumbing and supply to get a really good look at it all. In cold country we soon learn to look for where the lines are suspect, right? Sometimes just leaving the right cabinet doors open can save us!
But there may be three different things that might be catching you.
The bad one might be the valve that you switch can get worn and need replaced, UGH! But not as likely on a pretty new RV. Old plastic valves can get worn and water sneak past but I would not expect that.
Maybe a small er point as there is a check valve built in the end of the water pump and sometimes we need to change out those rubber parts on the pump if water is leaking back through the pump into the tank?
could be but still a newish RV!

So can I accuse you of missing a small point if it makes a lot less work to solve it? I try to keep a few failures in mind so my wife will appreciate me more when I don't mess things up!
Maybe the red one but the one I marked in green can catch me pretty often!

I think the water running out after the hose is disconnected can be just the water in pipes that are higher than the overflow runs back and overflows. The tank being low, there is quite a lot of water in pipes that are up higher?
If you do get into the pump question needing repair, there are parts kits to replace just the rubber items at the pump end end.

Good luck on the chase!

This is a somewhat common issue on just about all RVs.

There are two main culprits, one is the check valve built into your water pump. Small amounts of grit can disrupt the valve and let city water bypass the check valve.

Another less common cause is a worn out diverter valve at the City Water/Tank Fill valve.

The best thing to do now is to turn off the city water spigot and live on the fresh tank and water pump until you use up the water in the tank. Then switch back to city water and see if it reoccurs. Sometimes this is self correcting. It can take more than one round of this.

If this fails there are rebuild kits for the pump’s check valve that are inexpensive and simple to apply.

If this fails it may be the city/fill diverter which can be more difficult to replace.

We were on city water for 6 1/2 weeks without a problem. When we went to dump tanks noticed the fresh water tank was full. Not a problem we are leaving tomorrow so now I don't have to fill the tank. Noticed the problem when we reattached to city water in El Paso. Got some good advice, here it is for future use by someone. Going to try in the morning:

90% of the time it's the pump check valve. Easy to check: turn off water source, select winterize with winterzation valve, turn water back on. Remove cap from winterization tube. If water comes out of tube, check valve back leaking. Turn off water supply, restore winterization valve. Then turn on spigot to depressurize water supply. Turn pump on and cycle faucet several times. Turn off pump, turn on faucet. Then repeat steps with pump and faucet. That frequently seats check valve. If not, then just use water from tank with pump and fill fresh tank as necessary.

Another thing is to make sure you use a pressure regulator when conected to "city water" To much pressure can cause the water heater PSV to leak and could overwhelm the water pump check valve.

Problem is resolved, I think. I think the problem may have started because when trying to conserve water we never run the water at full volume. The pump seems to run much harder than it should and the problem started shortly after this practice. Now water run at full volume for all washing. I always use a pressure regulator when attached to city water.

Sounds like a common mistake if running pump at same time as having pressure water connected! Only have one at a time turned on!

Reg is good if near mountains where the tower may be much higher than you but there is no need of pump when you have pressure.

I discovered this on my rig as well! The pump check valve was the problem. Previously, I was hearing the pump come on briefly every couple of minutes, and this was also due to the check valve leaking the system pressure down! I now use a pressure regulator whenever I'm connected to a city water system, and it helps!
