2021 View / Navion Roof Fairing Reattachment?

Hi - I hope everyone is camping happy.

I can't find the threads concerning a better re-attachment of the aerodynamic roof fairing on the front left side of the '21 View / Navion, so I thought I'd see if anyone has done the job recently.

The leading edge of ours let go; the bracket worked its way free from the minimal bit of adhesive that was there, and we almost lost the whole thing. During a rest stop I noticed it was standing proud, so got up and removed it completely. I've read that others have lost this trim fairing - some replace them and some just leave them off.

The brackets don't have much surface area to contact adhesive, and most of the adhesive gets squeezed out during attachment. It is a poor design, to say the least. Has anyone come up with a better way to attach new brackets to the Filon roof veneer? New brackets with a better footprint and, maybe, VHB tape? Construction adhesive?

When I was installing an additional 100W solar panel on the roof of my 2023D, I remembered hearing about this issue and gave that fairing some attention. I can't remember the exact sealant/adhesive I used on the panels...probably Sikaflex as many have recommended...but I used the rest of the cartridge overlaying those brackets. It doesn't appear to be at all loose or in danger of falling off since, and it's endured some significant crosswinds.

You can tell from all of the dirt and visible roof panel surface that the brackets made very little contact. After cleaning it up, you should be able to glue them in place properly. You have a choice; you can use epoxy, or a strong, more flexible product like 3M 5200. I would lean more toward the latter. Make sure they aren't bent before you reinstall them. Also, consider hitting the bracket with some Rustoleum before reinstalling the "wing". The brackets are notorious for rusting away over time.

Our fairing disappeared on a trip from Denver to Las Vegas and return through northern Arizona last year. Don't know where or when it broke off, but the front bracket is completely gone. The rear bracket and bolt/stud is still in place, but are very rusted. Are replacement fairings available from Winnebago? Do they come in colors or do they require painting?

The IP is very fortunate to have seen his just before he kost it. We were not so fortunate!

Your experience seems to be the most common. The cost of the parts, plus painting, plus the hassle of reinstalling it is why many people just take them off. If you still want to replace it, perhaps someone here or on one of the V/N Facebook groups has one that they removed.
