Hello,
For the past 14 years I have owned my 2011 ITASCA 'SunStar' Model IFE30W, and I have never encountered any problems with its two slide-outs... both are operated by "POWER GEAR RPE DigiSync Room Slide Systems". That is, until the other day. when I tried to extend either one of the two slide-outs, the two individual control panels both displayed red blinking lights, indicating "ENGAGE PARK BRAKE". The "Park Brake" was already engaged, as I had to have that done previously in order to engage the coach's automatic levelers, which it did with no problems (if the parking brake was not set, the levelers would not have operated at all). I also had the 'threaded' locking devices removed from both slides as the key for the slide-out(s) power switch is attached to the locking rams with a lanyard, to prevent the slide-out(s) from being opened with those threaded locking devices in place. I went into the front of the coach and cycled the parking brake on-and-off a few times to see if that would clear the issue. Nope!

Then I raised the levelers completely, and then tried to reset them with the parking brake off... just as I figured the warning light on the levelers came on, telling me to "Set The Parking Brake". Once I set that, the leveler's warning light went out, and the coach once again leveled itself with no problem. Still when trying to open the individual slide outs the red lights on both of the individual control panels for the two slide outs indicate "Engage Park Brake", which is engaged. Following the instructions in the Owners manual for the slide-outs, I did remove both control panels in order to "reset" the red warning lights several times, but the "Engage Park Brake" warning lights continue to indicate that the park brake is not engaged when I try to open each slide out, and both of those control panels have several yellow wires (only) plugged into then back of them with a plastic female plug, so there is no color-coded wiring there.

I cannot find any installation or wiring diagram instructions for those Power Gear RPE Slide-Out Systems on the internet, and I was hoping to find out where the control panels are getting the signal from that the Parking Brake is not Engaged. Lippert does have the "Power Gear Slide Out System Operations and Service Manual" available as a free download, but it does not cover the installation and/or wiring instructions for installation. I am wondering where the main control box (electronic brain?) for the two slide-outs is located.

I am hoping that someone in this group may have encountered this issue before, and can help me... if not, as a last resort, I will have no other choice that to contact Lippert and try to find out where that slide out system is sensing that the "Park Brake" is not "Engaged". I am hoping to find out where the control panels are getting their signal from that tells them that the park brake is not set. There are no yellow wires attached to the park brake setting mechanism just to the left of the steering column that I can see. Please note: I am 77 years old, and my hearing is not the best..

Four locations for more individual Smaller controls for for rams? If all show sam e defect, I might guess getting that signal that the brake is set will be common to all?
A question might be if it is actually the same switch at the brake pedal as the jacks if they are made by different people? ?? checking at the jack pedal may tell you more if you can get the head screwed around well enough to see what little switches might be along the pedal arm?
But I marked some info on the way Winn does their small wires as they stamp ID at the last of a long string of info on the wires! That is 1-3 letters usually. We can use this "decoder" list to sort out which wire goes "from" and "to" other points. That can often tell you where to find battery or ground at times. Bit of hunt and peck there!

To make things a bit more tedious, they did not post that chart as a "searchable" item making it a tedious trek to scroll through.
I have not currently had time to search for any info at the pedal.
Maybe a place to start but not the best info we need, for sure!
Idea with not much to back it is that there is a single singal of some type comes from the front to this "master" brain and it is not getting there! Possilby one of thses single wires or is there a relay inthe middle some where? Not seeing much more to tell us on that! And that leaves a lot of laying upside down under the dash! UGH!!!

Morich, Thank You for your very detailed reply... it gives me much more information regarding the slide-out(s) on my coach. It has so far and will continue to take me some time to sort through the information that you provided in answering my question. The high temperature here today is supposed to reach 92 degrees Fahrenheit today, and my parking area is on asphalt, so I will continue to study the information that you so graciously provided, and wait for it to cool off a bit over the next few days before I go out to continue working on a solution to the issue. At least I know the location of the individual 'brains' that control each slide now.

It's too bad that the Winnebago's "electrical guide.pdf" link that you posted obviously refers to a much newer and different model of motorhome. That being said, I did sort through it, and I took numerous photos of the pages that refer to the four(?) different slide controls in that coach that area contained in that file. I did note the information" "vvp 18 yellow slide out switch (park brake LED" on page 68 of that file.

Regarding the parking brake's ground switch on the Ford F53 chassis (which my coach has), I did find these two you tube videos that show what it takes to remove, check, and repair the ground switch "for the faulty levelers" on this guy's F53 chassis: Part 1:

If it becomes necessary to remove the parking brake assembly, I will have to remove the "captain's chair" from its pedestal. I have already been 'down there to 'take a peek', and its not a comfortable position at all for me. While trying to extricate myself from down there, I 'jokingly' told my wife to call 911,and tell them that my 220 lb. body was stuck on the floor of my motorhome between the steering column and the captain's chair, and they needed them to come and pull me up out of there..." LOL!

My motorhome also has a 'rounded cowl cover' that sits just above and behind its instrument cluster, and that is screwed down to the flat area of the dashboard. I have removed that cover in order to see the upper part of the parking brake mechanism that is mounted on the left side of the steering column. With that removed, I have good access to all of the electrical wiring and AC ducts in that area, and also to the upper portion of the park brake mechanism. I will have to remove an AC duct and place it out of the way to clearly see the top area of the park brake releasing/ setting mechanism.

I am sometyimes really disappointing in finding Winnebago seems to be backignaway from somne of the online info they used to give us. In other RV, I have seen drawings/schematics that showed the connections att eh brake pedal. Not to be found on your RV drawings, but I might expect them to be the same in basics.
Problem is that much of it is under the dash and upside down!
But you may need to consdier looking under there as it is a semi-common thing for parts that move to be the oens that breako r get out of place?
If we think of the jsacks AND the slide both needing some way to know if the brake is on or off, it is reasonable to think that they might mount one switch that rides on the "arm" that holds the pedal. If that arm is up (brake off) it can either close or open a simple toggle switch. Then when the pedal is pushed down, the switch may close.
It seems practical to not have seperate switches for jacks and slides but just have the same switch and tap into the wiring going to that switch for the second item, jacks or slide that we want to monitor.
One of the quick, cheap, simple ways to tap into an existing line is the small crimp connectors that we might snap togehter with pliers.
Quick cheap and easy but they can be funky as anything I've ever worked with and tend to go open!
Can't say, but I do know I have found those wires hanging down where I might get my foot in the wires and they never were too solid to start with, so I might get a bit paranoid in the pedal area!
It's hard to see but if you can get a good light shining up under there, it may not be too hard to spot some small switch riding on the arm and find any broken wires, etc.
There may be one switch that controls things like a dash light but not many to confuse which, I might guess!
Worst case might be if there is a relay buried way up in the dash somewhere, UGH!
Maybe easier than sorting all those different wire ID on the diagrams?

Short note on the Id you mentioned? VVP is the wire ID that should match on wire and drawings. The 18 is wire gauge, so a smaller wire than many, larger number is smaller wire size and it should be yellow wire!

Our 2021 Spirit 26T slides stopped working a couple of years ago. After I checked everything and the Mobile Tech spent 2 hours checking everything we stumbled upon a 7.5 amp blade fuse in a random in line fuse holder behind the dash kind of underneath the steering wheel and above the brake pedal running over to the parking brake. We replaced the fuse and they worked. Gosh it was frustrating! Worth a look maybe. Good luck."

Today's high temperature is forecast to be 89 degrees (F) this Friday it is supposed to drop to 77, so I hope to be able to get back out then and continue working on the issue. I will keep you updated as to what I find... I hope that it is only a failed inline fuse!
 
As we run through what you might find, I might throw in what I have seen on different RV and from looking at various drawings of thatpark brake pedal switch? What I have seen may not be all that standard but maybe close. When I think of that switchm, I have seen it as not being hard to spot but mounted so that a lever maybe two inches long sitcks ot from the switch to a spot where the level is pushed or released as the pedal goes up and down. Those I have seen were not hard to spot once we get down in the floor to look up at the pedal. One big thing is that the pedal has no other electrical wires and such other than what tells things if it is up or down. So if you can spot some wires along that pedal that is about a foot long, that may be the switch you need.
Not a real delux type thing but more just a simple microswitch with a long arm sticking out in the path the pedal travels as it goes up and down.
But it may also be combined with a switch that is standard on that model truck chassis if you have some light that shows on the dsah for the regular truck stuff? I have seen what looks like there was a switch there on the normal truck and they just cut the wiring to add the wiring to tell the jacks and slides about the park brake, if that makes sense.
I don't remember if we have mentioned any regular dash light that tells the park brake is set but if there is and it seems to tell you when the brake pedal moves, it may be that there is a point along that wiring where they just used some form of snap connector to add in the new use?? You know the type connector where you just place the wires and squeeze the cover shut to make the connection? Not the best for lasted as long as we might like, so maybe a suspect to look over?
But that is all just guesssing till you can get closer, so I'll will you luck and hope you're not getting stuck in the floor!!

You're welcome. My next thought is twofold. Open up the sump on the a/c. Have an assistant shoot low pressure air from a compressor from the strainer end of the drain hose. If it's blocked you will clear it. This will give you a view of the pumping action. Start the a/c unit and watch to see if the water flows out. You may have to add some. The pump motor may be bad. Also, this gives you a chance to follow the drain vent back to the condenser to see if it's clear.

That red light on the motorhome's dashboard indicates "Jacks Down" only. I went ahead and replaced the parking brake mechanism's switch with a new one today, and reassembled the components in their proper place. In the second photo, the original parking brake switch is at the top of the photo, and the new "Standard switch is at the bottom of the photo. The switches are both identical in all dimensions. I am still working on the two Slide-Outs issues... both of their individual Control Panels still indicate "Engage Parking Brake" when the parking brake is already set... so the slide outs are still not functioning at all. I will start digging into the wiring schematics tomorrow to try to determine where the slide out's main controls (brains) parking brake sensors are connected to. Yesterday's phone call to Winnebago's Customer Service asking where they connected the "Parking Brake" sensor wires to was of no real help to me whatsoever. The last photo is of the Main Controls for the motorhome's two opposing slide-outs.

A quess from what info I have seen in th epast for this area, may help. They have moved away from providing the sam einfo on the current info posted, so we may have to guess on how this guess may work on YOUR RV!
What I have seen in the past seemed to show that they connected other items that used this info to the existing switch, rather than adding a second switch.

My thought was that we might be able to save checking the switch if there is another item that still works as that would say the switch is good?
But if the second item is not good, it may be the connection where the failed item wiring connects to the working item's wiring.
But that does have some obvious problems when we try to sort the question! There are several points where this signal may be failing! One is the point where the wire to the slide control meets the wiring tot he dash light. We might call that point 1? But the problem might also be at the control box if the wire and signal are not getting to the box. We might call that point 2? Maybe something as simple but hard to find as a corroded connection on a plug?
And then the number three might be that the control box itself has failed?
My thought was that IF the dash light was showing when the pedal moved, it was not likely to be the switch but some point further out toward the slide control??
Whether easier to crawl all around under the dash to find IF there is a connection like I am thinking or to get under the slide, etc. to find and check the connection there to see if the signal changes when the pedal is moved?

If the signal is getting to the correct pin on the box and it is still not working, we might have to assume it the box which has failed?
So that last part leaves the question of which is the lesser of two evils! Is it better to search for a possible bad connection under the dash and all that trauma of getting to it there, or is it even tougher top get to the control box and check for problems there. Kind of like when a lamp doesn't work? We don't know for sure power is good to the cord, good to the lamp, or maybe the light bulb is bad!
Dealer's choice of where to try to start sorting out the problem! UGH!
 
Once again, I Thank You for your input.

Truth be told, I beat my aging body up quite a bit yesterday, having spent 10 hours reinstalling the parking brake mechanism, captains chair, and also 'chasing my tail'. That being said, I will begin again working on the slide-out issue(s) on Monday. I did take this photo of the "Jacks Down" warning light on the dashboard and the second photo showing the HWH levelers control panel indicating in that the four jacks are down (which they are) with the "Not In Parking Brake" warning light off. Yesterday, I did test the HWH Jacks "Not In Parking Brake" light with the new parking brake switch installed (but not plugged in) and that warning light on the HWH control panel was lit up. After connecting the 2-pin wiring plug to the parking brake switch, that warning light on the HWH control panel went out.

The third and fourth photos show the backside of the HWH Computerized levelers and its wiring. I am wondering about the small gauge bare copper wire in the center of that plug. My shade-tree mechanic tells me that it may very possibly be a "ground wire"? if so, why use bare wire with no insulation?

I am beginning to think that the factory may have chosen to connect the parking brake sensing ground wire underneath the coach possibly at or near to the hydraulic pump's parking brake wire for the jacks. The 9-volt battery for my aging "FLUKE 77 Multimeter" is kaput, so I need to get another battery for it when I go in town today. I did unplug the 10-pin connector at the "Right Slide-Out Module" in the curbside cargo compartment, and tried to check its lone white wire ... which I suspect may actually be 'the ground wire' (all of the other 9 wires to the female plug are yellow) in the female socket in the plug for ground, but that's when I discovered the dead battery in my Fluke 77.

Quick thought on the bare wire and then I will try to look closer at the pins on the slide modules If I can find the right clue!
I think that wire you mention is going to be for a wire mesh shield that is just under teh outside insulation like we find on coax cables? On coax we have the metal ends that we screw down to attach them and that metal is connected to the braid inside the coax to act as a grounded shield for any type interference we might get. I am guessing the bare wire is just run the length of the cable more or less just "sandwiched" by the braid and outer insulation. I'm guessing the bare wire acts the same as on a coax and keeps any stray interferance out but they had not screwed it on a connector at the end like coax connections, so they just run the bare wire to the plug and a pin on the board for grounding !

Byt before getting too deep in that question, I might want to look at jacks or slides rather than get confused on both.
This manual seems to be pretty good for troubleshooting but that may not always be true. But I do have a question about what the jacks question is or I've lost the thread!
I see in this picture all looks good except the rear shows low?

It looks like at this point all was good, brake alarm is clearand all four jacks are down. The onlty prolem looks like the rear is still low. Not sure when this picture was taken but did you try to level manually to get it level?
I think I would want to work one item at a time and this manual from HWH seems to be really complete and following it would be my best bet before getting involved in the slides. That will let you work the leveling question with a good set of directions which we have not found yet for the slides!
But for the question on that one bare wire, I find this on about page 33, guessing as I find no page numbers??? Every builder seem to have thier own favorite weirdness to throw into things!

No idea what can they speak of, though?
Maybe take a close look at the section where they do a manual test first, before going to automatic leveling as that gets lots of the part checked out before going to more difficult!
 
I get occasional red-light flashing on my slider controls, usually because I held the button too long on retracting. I found that by turning off the main chassis battery switch, count to 60, and flip back on, it clears the blinking light. sort of like rebooting the computer chip that controls the slide out sensor. Might help, you have nothing to lose by trying.

Morich, once again, I do Thank You for all of the time and effort that you have spent on my 'problem'. Regarding that leveling system yellow light that shows that the rear end of the motorhome is "LOW', my driveway slopes to the south toward the rear of the motorhome, and with the HWH hydraulic jacks fully extended back there, the motorhome has always shown that, even with its front tires on the asphalt, but the slide outs always worked in that way in the past, with no issues.. until the other day.

Tomorrow morning, I will phone Lippert (who acquired Power Gear, the manufacturer of my motorhome's slide-outs), and hopefully they may be of some assistance regarding the wiring diagrams and/or instructions on my coach, but, as the installation took place when my motorhome was manufactured back in 2011, I don't hold much hope on that.

And that led me to this: https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws.com/manuals/pg_3010001343.pdf Which is the "POWER GEAR INSTALLATION AND SERVICE MANUAL M-2 SYNC SLIDE-OUT SYSTEM" dated 09/07 and IT is Not identical to my two slide-outs systems, but it does have a wiring diagram for whatever that might be worth.

I was back at it today, on the floor in between the captain's chair and steering column, just to check once again for an inline fuse, but once again, I didn't find one. Then I went under the coach behind its left front wheel, where the HWH levelers hydraulic pump and distribution solenoids are. There is a 3/8-16 NC ground stud that threads into the hydraulic pump's housing and it secures 5 white ground wires. I checked it with my Fluke 77 Multimeter, and that stud is grounded to the motorhomes frame. I have attached two photos of that 'wiring mess'.

I have tried that more than once, all to no avail... but I didn't count to '60' before reconnecting the motorhome knife-switch on the neagtive post of the coach's chassis battery. I will "give it a go" again tomorrow and count to 60 before reconnecting the ground on the chassis battery.

I was working on the idea that you had HWH for both slides and jacks . In reading back through post one, I see I blew it totally from the start as you both mention the correct brand for slides as well as show a picture that I should have spotted the different brand on the controls! I got the wrong story at some point and went totally off course. Let's start over as I thought you had HWH on both jacks and slides but you have a totally different setup, not involved with the HWH, other than perhaps using the same power, etc, at different points!
We no longer get the 12VDC schematics online, so I was easily misled with lack of reading close enough! My fault in assuming without reading closer!
So a new view!
This manual would seem to match and if the slides are moving slowly, drop to page 26 for troubleshooting ideas?
I have been able to sort what might be the power and ground pins on the slide modules and checking that may confirm you are getting those vital inputs to the brains?
Using the Winnebago ID list we get this info on how a plug on each modle seems to get power.

Then if we match that wire info which should be stamped on the Winn wires, we can sort where to check battery and ground gets to the two different but matching plugs.
No info on how to count the pins but alternating bat and ground connections that may be okay once you get to them for a check? There apears to be a plan, but they do not explain the plan!
What I had hoped to find was mention of a connection tot eh park brake, but not found it yet! Possibly one of the other wires and ID would match for that?
My current thought, now that I have my head screwed on better, is that both jacks and slides use the same switch at the pedal and one is simply tied togehr witht eh first wireing to that switch. But the problem may be that one of those wire connections may not be good to get that info passed to the slide modules. The problem being that I find no place where either set of info tells us WHERE that connection might be. That leaves me thinking it is "somewhere" up under the dash????
That's an ugly place to just jump in and spot a bad connection! I feel like it might be better to find and verify that signal is not getting to the right place on a module first before trying under the dash! But I've not found WHERE on the module? Would that be a good time to call the builder of the module and maybe get a simple answer of where to look on which plug and which pin?
There may be a park brake connection on one of those other plugs, but I've not gotten around top chassing those!
Enough info to blind me, but not enough to find what we need!

Well, having had appointments in town the past couple of days, I hope to get back work on the slide-out issue tomorrow. Today I have another appointment in a nearby town, and I don't expect to be able to work on the coach after that.

I have made some progress though, Thanks to a phone call to Lippert, who now own "Power Gear" the slide-out's mechanism's manufacturer. They were very helpful and able to supply me with these documents that should help guide me in my endeavors to repair the two non-functioning slide-outs on my 2011 ITASCA SunStar Model IFE30W Class A motorhome. In the first document "Detail B" (Touch Pad Connector" shows that Pin #7 is for the "Parking Brake LED" (which is located on the individual slide-out control panels... and pin #8 is for the "Parking Brake Input". The third photo (shows the document supplied from LIppert, but the link ( lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws.com/slide-outs/manuals/pg_82_s0503.pdf) to that document no longer works :(). Thankfully, I did print out that document while it was still up and available on my computer's screen the other day... that document's title is: "New FLS/RPE CONTROL MODULE - Testing @ Module" (the testing procedures for the control module).
