I recently bought a 2008 Tour40WD. My bedroom slide is not tilting out and sealing at the top. A shop has told me the glide is missing under the slide and they have to pull the whole thing out to replace to the tune of $4500. I seems like others have done this them selves for similar parts. Anyone have some tips and maybe pictures of this repair doing it at home?

Parts I think I need based on what I found for my couch schematic.
152641-01-000 EA SKID/GLIDE - SLIDEOUT ROOM - 1/4"X2"X95.5"- POLYETHYLENE
Possibly this one too
160471-04-01A EA PAN/DRAIN - FLOOR/SLIDEOUT - BLACK

Thanks
Michael

Hi Michael, what kind of shop are you getting this price from? If it’s a typical RV Dealer or, worse yet a Camping World location that may be why the price is so high.

I know I’ve seen a few YouTube videos with folks doing major slide repairs. Have you searched there? You’ll not likely find DIYers doing this task on your exact model or year, unless you get super lucky. I think YouTuber “AZ EXPERT” and/or “RV with Tito” are the ones I’ve seen, though I could be remembering wrong.

With the Tour being a top of the line motorhome many owners might not be into major DIY repairs and more comfortable with having others do the difficult work.

If I lived near DFW, as you do, I’d take the coach to NIRVC in Lewisville for a consultation and pricing. Or better yet to the Winnebago factory Service Center in Forest City, IA. If it’s an HWH brand slide out, taking it to HWH’s factory in Moscow, IA would be appropriate, as well. Assuming that’s the type of slide involved you should at least contact HWH for advice. Also, there is a HWH employee that posts on www.irv2.com and can be a big help. Look for posts from a username of AZPETE.

Thanks creativepart, quote was from a local RV repair shop in Decatur. I'm definitely going to get some other opinions on the repair. I have not seen any posts for my particular Coach just posts for others who replaced the slides or added carpet when they switched out the flooring. New this was a shot in the dark but worth a shot. I will check on irv2.com and look for that users posts. I do have the HWH system in mine.

In 2021 I traveled nearly 2000 miles to the Winnie factory in Iowa to get my big slide repaired. It cost me about $2200 at the factory for them to "fix it". It was sagging down and metal to metal catching and causing a big crunch/snap that was getting worse and worse over a few years. I think things were bending and fatiguing, maybe cracking? Mine is the "flat floor" design that is rather complex and prone to wear out problems. While I waited at the factory service, there must have been 25 coaches waiting for service and my guess is that 75% of them had slide problems. It is very common. Anyway their fix was temporary and now 4 yrs later it's coming back.

I recommend going to HWH factory rather than Winnie. I think the labor rates are comprobable. I've been on the iRV2 forum since my coach was new in 2003 and I see many very satisfied customers that have visited the HWH in Moscow, Iowa. I sure wish I went to HWH for my repair.

Good luck,
Bill
