2007 Sightseer 29 Grey Water In Shower

Hi
We are fulltiming in our Sightseer and loving every moment of it.
Unfortunetly when our RV left the USA the warranty became null and void in the UK, so we have to make our own repairs. this is why your help is invaluable.
Today we found grey water in the shower, what a smell,the reason for this is that the grey water led gauge shows empty.
Any advice would be appreciated, and would gaurantee a pint of good old Somerset cider should you ever decide to holliday in the UK....

I would think that there is something hung upon the sensor. Try dumping the tank completely and if possible back wash the tank. Partially, at least half way, fill the tank with clean water and add some liquid fabric softener to the tank. Drive the unit a bit to slosh things around and see if that frees it up. Some liquid bleach or dish washing detergent wouldn't hurt either.

Back in 2005 Winnebago went standard with the TrueLevel non-contact tank level sensing system so if it shows empty I would suspect that the sensors on the grey water tank might be unplugged.
If not I would take the display panel out and make sure the sensor plug on it is seated properly.

If both ends seem to be seated you can check continuity of the two sensor wires by unplugging them on both ends and shorting one end then measuring the resistance between the two wires on the other end.

If that is all okay I would think either one of the three sensors on the side of the grey water tank is bad or the display sensor pc board is bad.

The display panel has five "LM339 Low Power Low Offset Voltage Quad Comparator" ICs (one for each waste tank, one for the propane tank and one for the battery voltage) that are used to sense the voltage drops across the sensor strings.
The sensors are on the side of each tank are in series and as the level increases each sensor in turn will in effect act like a closed switch. The voltage level circuitry on the display board will sense the drop and light the proper LEDs.
It's not terribly complicated and a local electronics guru might be able to trouble shoot it.

My kids used to say "Okay Dad, now will please explain explain your explanation?" so it's great to get it right once in a while.
