We asked our mechanic to replace all our lug nuts. He ordered what he assumed were the correct lugs directly from Ford (we're on an E450 chassis), but when they arrived he discovered that they don't fit because of some kind of "inserts" on the wheels. Can anyone explain what he's talking about? And is it normal practice for Winnebago to not use whatever wheels come on the unfinished chassis out of the factory?

Got the answers (from both our mechanic and the local tire expert who he actually called down and collaborated with)...
Apparently Winnebago doesn't use the standard Ford factory wheels, but puts different ones on at their own assembly line (I think they're still Ford wheels; just stronger than standard because they're a different material or something). Anyways, those wheels have bigger holes where the lug studs come through, meaning that there's then some sort of insert added to bring the holes down to the proper size. And hence the standard Ford lug nuts not fitting (depth-wise).
