This AI-generated summary may contain inaccuracies. Please refer to the full thread for complete details.
A member with a 2005 Winnebago Adventurer 35A on a Workhorse chassis lost control voltage to the HWH slide system, along with the Winnebago dash jacks-down light and alarm, and possibly the step auto-retract function. They reported that the HWH 325 system itself works when 12 volts is jumped to the larger red feed wire at the HWH-to-Winnebago connector, leading them to suspect a missing key-on or run circuit feed, possibly the KE circuit.

Members asked for the exact coach and HWH model...

2005 I lost control voltage to my slides. The source of power for this wire is winnebago. It passes through the hwh box to the slide actuators and activates the pump. Im hot wiring them now for function.
I also lost my winnebago jacks down light and alarm, possibly steps auto retract when engine started. I cannot find any bad fuses. I believe its key on ignition sourced circuit "somewhere".
I can locate the HWH harness that carries the large red power wire and all the slide control wires behind the footwell fuses panel. Its all black wires with one red on the HWH harness connecting to all yellow on the winnebago side. I cannot touch it because its so cramped down in there.
Does anyone know where that red wire, powering the HWH slides gets it's power? I believe its the KE wire. The jacks down alarm is also on that circuit. The HWH panel shows emergency brake and jacks down but the winnebago dash does not illuminate on jacks down or alarm. The HWH panel makes ground for that curcuit.
My dash is not a flip up. You remove the top then more as you go. I think the antanae down circuit is also on KE from drawings and oddly, the radio. The radio works. I dont know about the antenna alarm.

I can jumper the red wire at the HWH box and the slide switches work.
Thanks
Please dont comment on other years or models unless you know for fact they are the same. They ARE different in many ways on this circuit.

Okay, got sdome info but with some questions as well. first is the 35A. Is that voyage or adventer? They look much the same on paper but we should start with a good idea we are on the right page!
Then there is indication that it shoud be a Ford chassis??
Maybe getting me straight before going too far?
But I took a look at this drawing of the 12VDC wiring for the chasiss and found the same you mention for wire KE.
a KE 1.jpg

This part of the drawing that I copuld fit, does show Wire/circuit KE does involve the HWH as well as antenna and looks like lots of other things that I did not chase down.
Next snip fits on top of the one above for source?
This seems to show the power for KE would come off the chassis wiring when the key is in run notch/position. They don't make it clear to me which pin on the plug? Somewhere there should be a chassis fuse box that feeds this?
a KE 2.jpg

but then it shows a Ford chassis which makes me question!
Am I correct that you meant the Winnebago ID for wires? If looking at Winnebago wires, there should be a long string of info with the last several letters being the ID. But that doesn't seem to match a big red wire when I look at the wire ID list as I get this:
a KE 3.jpg

So I'm not getting the same info on several things?

But then I also don't think of the control wires as being heavy duty but more in the 16/18 gauge range while a big heavy wire is often the feed to run a motor, etc.?
The old idea of the little guys expect the big guys to do all the work!!

There should be some meeting on the info but can you straighten me out?

You know what would really help folks help you? If you would list your actual model information.

All you have said is “2005 35a workhorse” - that’s a year, a floor plan and a chassis. We have zero indication of what model you are asking for help on.

The RV is a 2005 winnebago adventurer 35A. The HWH is a 325 series 4 jacks and 3 slides.
Sorry, I cannot find the edit button on my phone to edit the original.

I only thought that it may be from the KE circuit because of the winnebago drawings connecting HWH power with the antannae alarm, step auto retract (which doesn't work), the radio that does work in the key on position and run position, and something I'm forgetting now.

The bigger red wire that feeds the 625 series HWH box is definitely winnebago sourced. HWH confirmed this.
I know from testing that its the larger red wire in the HWH to winnebago connector that is missing power. If I add +12 volts to that line, the slide switches function correctly. I don't being able to access that plug behind the footwell fuse box without a major ordeal. I'd have to remove all the panels again to see how big but id expect to have to remove the fuse box itself, possibly the sealing foam through the floor for those wires and? It's bigger than it sounds lol

The drawing do shiw (Ford only) fir the Ford only applications. I will also say that they leave much to be desired. Near the last page there is a printed page that states "throw in" and detailed some slide out wire numbers and their annotations. Nothing useful though. The larger red wire on the HWH to winnebago junction with about 10 or 12 conductors is not in winnebago's drawings. It is in HWH drawings but that doesn't help much. Thanks

Sorry I cannot edit it but its a 2005 Winnebago Adventurer 35a on a workhorse chassis. The drawings show a little of both. The HWH is a 325 series which is 4 jacks and 3 slides NO dump valve in their drawings. I confirmed that the HWH side is fully operational by bypassing power where the red power supply is intended to enter the HWH.

Expanding on creatativepart's questions; do you know the model of your HWH system? If not, use this quick guide to accurately make that determination. After you've determined the model #, a quick internet search will locate your service manual.
This covers Winnebago-specific slide rooms: https://www.hwhcorp.com/ml23521.pdf

Same for the Kwikee steps: Kwikee products service training manual.
Thank you, the HWH side is 100% operational when properly fed with power. The step, i haven't cared to look yet but I suspect its somehow on the same relayed "engine run circuit". Thansk

Okay, if we go with the idea that the power is not getting to the plug Winnebago added for their wiring, that puts it back into the chassis wiring and we have to go to different places to see if we can drag that info out of the chassis builders! One of the problems with that is how difficult it can be to get that info as they tend to hold it very close.
With that in mind and knowing that the RV portion is built on a chassis bought from a company like General Motors, if it is a Workhorse, I might start with a check of the local library to see If I could find a repair manual for that specific chassis.
Or as an alternate to getting good info, it can be more worthwhile to find the chassis fuse box and some will have fuse ID labels on them. No manual for the chassis onhand in a packet of info? In this case it may be better to go with the "shopgun " idea and check the chassis fuses. Not something we can get from the Winnebago info. So I often think of those chassis fuses as out under the hood but no real info on that as it is a chassis question.

I found an inline fuse under the dash. It didn't look factory to me but I may be. 15 amp. That was the problem.
