The gas gauge and speedometer did register anything when we bought the motorhome.

A diesel shop was able to get the speedometer working but not the gas gauge.

A rv shop changed the gas sending unit that is housed on top of the gas tank and the actual gas gauge. Our gas tank if absolutely full right now but the gauge will register a little above 1/4 tank.

Obviously the wires and fuses are fine as there is some registering happening.

Any thoughts on our next move to get the gas gauge reading correctly?

You might check the wire from the gauge to the tank. It could be that it is almost broken open under the insulation, causing high resistivity.

Your sender might be faulty, you'll have to drop the tank to fix it, best done with an empty tank!
To test, measure the resistance on the wires at the console! I'm not sure what the specified resistance for a full tank is, but you should be able to find that information on the web!
