2002 Horizon Basement A/C Charging Ports

I want to check the charge in my 2002 Horizon. I have Tried to locate the charging ports, under the rear bed and outside the coach. I can't seem to find the ports for my gauges. I am a 35-year A/C tech, but that is for residential. I don't feel that the system is operating to the potential. My system is an R22 and I have refrigerant to add charge to the system if necessary. I just am not getting my 20* split when I should.

I'm no expert, but if you look around this site and others, I believe you'll find that there are no charging ports on the coleman basement ac units. There are discussions about adding them however, and with your background likely well within your skill set. Let us basement ac guys know how you do please.

For dash air,
You'll find them on the exterior of the starboard side of firewall of your MH, near the evaporator coil.
For the RVP basement units, they are inside the cabinet. There are two totally separate, sealed systems, compressor units.
You will find the model # of your unit on a sticker on the stern of the cabinet near the top. It's hard to see unless you use a mirror and bright light.
Once you have your model # just look up the service manual on the web. Before removing the unit, follow the troubleshooting guide and insure both compressors are operating. For instance, compressor #2 will not run unless #1 is already running. It's all explained in the service manual.
For example, here is the service manual for a 6535 model.
Of course this means the unit must be removed from the MH to service the unit. This is how: Basement A-C Removal Procedure - Coleman 2 Ton (be advised, this unit weighs approx. 200 lbs) I bought a hyd. lift table from Harbor Freight to slide the unit out on for servicing. The 120VAC electric cable does not need to be disconnected. This means you can bench run the unit while on said table.

These look remarkably similar to elevator cab ac units that I have worked on before. They too are made by coleman

RVP was a division of Coleman-Mach that sold only the basement heat pumps and air conditioner models
The cabinet contains 2, 120VAC compressor/motors running in parallel. 1 evaporator coil and 1 condensing coil; the roles are reversed for heat pump or air conditioning.
Today only one model (6515) is sold, but can replace any other old model if the ductwork is changed/modified.

Coleman-Mach used to make a cooling unit only, but I forget that model number. All the old basement units are repairable, and aftermarket parts are still available.

I would check the vertical ductwork behind the rear cap, they have been known to split and pour your cold air behind the cap.
