Hi all,

My wife Jen and I just bought a new to us Winnie. It is a 2015 1706FB. We get to pick her up on Monday since we have a trip planned for this weekend already. We have been long time tent campers and figured with our youngest leaving for college this fall it was time to step up our game a little. We cant wait for the first trip so we can embarrass ourselves a little...

We are a military family with 3 kids that are now grown so we thought this was something we could do to enjoy camping year round without being to hot or to cold when sleeping. Looking forward to getting to know a little more about our camper and learn some tips and tricks along the way.

Congrats!
You're starting out just like my wife and I. Our first was a 16' Arctic Fox travel trailer. We took it everywhere. Luckily for us, we lived in Jackson, Wyoming. So, Grand Teton National Park was 20 miles away and Yellowstone only 60 miles away. Plus all of Idaho, Utah and Montana were within a days drive.

We took the 16 footer to the Canadian Rockies and loved it so much we immediately traded it for a 22' Arctic Fox. After 8 years in that we ordered a new 25' AF from the factory. After 5 years with that we bought a 30' Class C and 2-years later bought a 37' Class A.

All of them have been great and really we loved them all but it seems that with each one we are equally content until we lay eyes on the next candidate.

My wife will still say the most raw fun was that first little TT we could take anywhere anytime and be set up in minutes.

You're going to have a great time. Our first "RV" was a 1966 Ford Econoline van I converted in the early '70s after getting out of the Air Force. Then it was two VW "pop-top" campers in succession. After a hiatus of several years of sailboating, it was on to travel trailers, a 22' followed by a 25'.

We now have a 35' motorhome, primarily for accessibility reasons, but I'm jealous of some of our friends with their small trailers similar to your's. Easy to store, easy to pull and easy to set-up.

Congratulations and thank you for your service... both of you. We too, are retired military and love some of the military Famcamps we have visited!! You’re going to have an awesome time being an empty nester, but beware... they might come back one day
Enjoy your new toy!
