1st time Winnie owners

We just purchased a 2018 Sunstar 32YE, our first Motor Coach after pulling 3 TT in last 25 yrs. Heard good reviews about Winnies and saw the difference in quality construction for what we searched for.

Retired now and looking forward to new adventures and teaching grandkids the outdoors as we did our daughters. Can’t wait to meet fellow Winnie’s on the road and read what others enjoy/encounter with their experiences.

So far so good buts it’s early. Drove off lot yesterday from Camping World 65 miles back home. Rode and drove better than I thought empty with 3/4 tank gas. Out today with wife copilot getting more comfortable on road both highway and rural. My only adjustment was keeping even between lines now because of the width. Turning good and much different than towing TT. Filled up gas and will monitor fuel consumption for the next month. Let me know if you have any observations on systems, engine or body. Jimmy

Yes, our drive home was with full gas tank, full propane tank (thank you to our dealer) and about 1/3 water tank. Wandering not as bad as some describe on the various forums. My frame of reference was our previous MH which wasn't bad either.


I made a point to weigh the "empty" rig on all 4 corners. We weighed it again with all the "stuff" loaded on... stored from our previous MH. Trying to balance the load as it were.


We have the 50 amp shore power cord which was "hard wired" into the Automatic Transfer Switch. This is a poor design trying to wrestle this cord through the hold inside the wet bay. First mod was replacing this setup with a marine style, 50 amp twist connector/receptacle. This is what we had with previous MH. This way allows the power cord to be brought up through the bottom, into the wet bay and plugged in to the receptacle... and the cord can be stored in any location the user prefers. Much better.

The point Fishbear makes about weighting it now...empty...is a good one. Then all loaded up. I’d measure it too. Particularly the real max height.

Welcome to the family, and best wishes for years of enjoyment. Weve owned a Winnebago class A since 1998, after having SOB (some other brand for the previous 11 years. Our present coach is a 2002 Horizon that we bought pre-owned in 2003. We still love it, and it is a pleasure to drive, and camp.
