I am trying to figure out what is wrong with the hydraulic brakes on my rv. I filled the transmission fluid because the reservoir was low, I found that the transmission pump and the hydraulic pump are the same on this rig. I have looked for the regular brake fluid reservoir that is located behind the front driver tire, but still need to find it. Are there fuses that I need to check, and how do I check to see if the air compressor is on or off? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I press the brake peddle there is no pressure but there is a thumping sound like it's trying to engage, but I just am not familiar with everything and trying to figure it out. TIA.

“I found the TRANSMISSION pump and hydraulic pump are the same”HUH???
What, may I ask, is this TRANSMISSION pump you’re referring to?
As far as your brake actuation is concerned, I’m not familiar with your rig but to me, if you’re pushing on that brake pedal, that action has to go SOMEWHERE so, I’d get down under the dash and see what happens when the brake pedal is pushed. If there’s a rod that goes through the firewall or floor, it’s got to come out on the other side of it. Keep tracing the mechanical action. There’s a brake reservoir somewhere around there.

I meant power steering pump not transmission pump, is the same as hydraulic pump. I actually am interested in help but I have some serious health issues going on, and fighting for my military healthcare thats been repeatedly taken away the last two years wrongfully. I just had to file a congressional to fight to resolve the situation and get the treatment I desperately need to save my life. I am stage 2 CKD and now need 2 knee replacements due to that. and doing the best I can. I do appreciate your help, but sometimes things get held back for the other priorities. Im reading manuals today to try and figure out if there is a pressure differential switch, and if so where it is and how to reset it. I found out there are apparently two lines of the brake system and I need to find out if they are getting fluid equally. Also, trying to figure out where the button is to engage/disengage the park brake. I have gotten under the left front driver wheel trying to find the reg brake fluid resevoir, need to try and get back under it again to find it. and I need to figure out how to determine if the air compressor is on or off, and how to do that. It's a lot, and Ive been getting sicker more every day. So, please understand if I don't reply back in the most timely manner. My husband was murdered in February so I've been left on my. own to figure all of this stuff out. Doing the best I can... Thanks again, appreciate your help.

Sounds like the trouble is still hanging around!
A bit of help may be in knowing that the RV/house part is normally built on top of what they call a "stripped chassis that is often made by somebody like Ford Chevy or others and then there may be other types of vehicles built on top.
a bit like a house in that different people build the foundation the wood on top and yet other build the things like the furnace and stove.
What that all gets down to is that we need to look to different people for repairs or information. For the things that come on the normal truck , that info often needs to come from the folks who build trucks.
While there are likely to be folks who may know trucks, it is not always a sure thing that we will have somebody who knows the details like brakes on all the vast numbers and types of trucks out there!

You may need to find the info that tells which builder did the chassis part and then look for info on how they built the parts you mention.
Not to send you away but most of us will know there is a pedal on the floor and it works things underneath but that is not really good firm info for fixing things!
If you can sort out who built the chassis, a trip to a library may be a good place to look for a manual for that year and model of truck.
Or it may be time to check a local parts store for buying the correct manual.
Several can kinda/sorta tell you what's down there but you really need more indepth and reliable info.
When new to things, getting the wrong info is rreally bad.
