Ours is a 330 hp Cat and it does pretty well but I wouldn't want anything smaller. We tow a vehicle and that adds to the load uphill and you can feel it back there. That must be a used Tiffin because I don't think they put anything that small in them nowadays. Sounds like you folks had a great trip around the country. I'm waiting for my DW to finally retire so we can be gone that long. We have also done Glacier and Banff as well as the Calgary Stampede. Great fun.

Part 2 of 2 See part 1 first. Sorry for being long winded.

Glad I didn't since I now have a advice question for you. We have a 35' Adventurer V-10 with Banks exhaust headers, giving us a little over 400HP. Goes up mountains good, but I'd like more power. Not really feasible without a turbo and forget that.
Oh yeah, here's the question. Our friend and neighbors will be buying a Tiffin diesel, 3 slides, 31 foot with a Cummings 275HP engine. Do you have any opinion on whether this is enough power or not? I'm also and engineer, so know all about torque, horsepower and what it means, but have not experienced a turbo diesel like that. any opinion?

I may also create a new post with this question, if I feel like getting blasted with "energetic" responses.
    Thanks, Richard

It was shortly after you sent your reply, that my wife and I took a 9 week trip around the country and Canada. We needed 6 more MONTHS! Felt rushed, but saw dozens of amazing places including Yellowstone and Glacier. Strangely, three highlights were "Avenue of the Giants" (near Eureka, CA) Glacier N.P., and Banff, Canada. Avenue of the Giants is a favorite, because of the scenery and, importantly, much less crowded than the national parks, where we had great difficulty finding parking places. School was out, so everyone was there. In Avenue we could roam amongst some of the Sequoia trails and be the only ones there. Very eerie feeling, like you're an ant.
Anyway, that's my excuse for not getting back sooner.

Oops. they sat too long, so this is part 1.

Thanks Skyking. I worked in Washington Center from 68 to 83 and then Minneapolis Center from 83 to 2000. In 81 I was doing the single parent thing and working in a staff position and not eligible to strike. Lost a lot of good friends during that time. I mean we're still friends, they were just gone. Glad to hear you got back. There is a guy on here that goes by Sky Boss. He was a radar tech. I know a couple more when I see them.

    Cooperhawk,
    Great decision. You'll love it.
I'm sending this privately (I guess), because I saw you were also retired ATC.
I retired in 2004 from GSP tower/approach control, but also was a certified GS-14 at New York Center, Miami Center and Memphis Center.
Got fired in 1981 from Miami (stupid strike) and was rehired at Memphis in1998, then to GSP (Greenville/ Spartanburg International).
Still in Greenville area and love it.
    Richard
