New to RV - purchased older Winnie - to test waters!

Hi everyone!

We just recently purchased our first MH. We opted for an older one for our initial due to the size we were looking for and the cost of new was way out of our price range and MH's do not seem to hold their values.

To make a long story short we purchased a 1995 Itasca Passage (by Winnebago) 25 foot and we are happy with the layout. Class A, simple layout, with twin rear beds and large bath. Both front seats swivel thus we can utilize all inside space we are really happy with the layout and it does seem to run great tranny and engine wise. We didn't have to spend $50,000 plus to get the size and layout we were looking for. I guess size wise would be considered a class B+???

Anyhoo we are excited to fix up and upgrade to the way we want. I do have a couple questions if anyone could help us out since we are so new to this we do not know anything about a MH.

Things we have done so far:

All brand new tires (ones on it had great thread but we found out they were 13 years old - So we did replace all 6 with new and had brakes tested/checked and plenty life left in them.

Purchased an awning (Didn't come with one) - We have not installed as of yet.

Purchase 4 steel hubcaps.

Replaced windshield wiper hoses (as they were cracked) repaired one small rock chip in windshield as we did not want it to start cracking.

Engine oil, tranny fluid/filters all good and clean (50K miles) Starts right up, runs quiet and shifts smooth. Tested everything - and all work as they should. Generator, Dash AC, Roof AC, Furnace, Micro, Fridge (gas/electric), no water leaks. Really clean inside we are the 2nd owner.

What we will be doing in the next couple weeks:
Resealing all seams, windows, compartments, roof (Aluminum) and will be giving the generator a tune up as we have no idea when this was last done if at all.

QUESTION:

We noticed it seems to have quite a bit of sway not to much dolphin dipping but swaying or wag when you get up to speed like around 35-40mph.

Not sure if this is normal or something we just have to get used to or if we need to replace somethings in suspension??? Shocks?? Sway bar bushings??? It does have airbags in front which do hold air and seem to be fine. Any suggestions what we should look for or is swaying/wagging normal?

Thanks so much everyone..

Eventually we are going to be removing all the old decals and replacing with a custom design (that we will custom order) so that it does not look so dated.

Hello and welcome to Winnie Forums. Congrats on the new-to-you RV; I hope you have many happy miles.

Sounds like you are off to a good start with all the maintenance items. As far as sway, all motorhomes have a certain amount and takes a while to get used to the feel of it. If the shocks are original you might consider them a place to start. Good luck!

Thank you for your reply - yes shocks are original as far as I know. We figure we may change out rear shocks and also add a Steering stabilizer in hopes that it would help some. Certainly cannot hurt.
