Just joined here.

Howdy and welcome! It's pretty common to overpack, at least for the first few trips. Just be mindful of your rig's carrying capacity!

Welcome to the group. Cracker Barrel is a great idea. I stayed in the driveway my first night and the wife thought that meant I was cooking breakfast.

Where I live it's illegal to park in the driveway... Also illegal to park in front of your own house, or in back of your own house, or to "live" in your RV. It's even illegal to plug it in to electrical except and unless you're preparing for a trip then you get a 72 hour pass on that law. So, soon as the electrician gets done I'll be preparing for a trip forever and permanently...

Where do you live? Restrictions on RV's seem to be getting tighter and tighter. How do we push back?

HOA's typically hace the 72 hour thing. There are pluses and minuses living in a HOA. My neighbor won't have cars in the driveway he's working on, as an example.

No HOAs in my neighborhood, Those are county laws. So, the whole story: I called the County in case I needed to know anything unusual, complained about the horrible laws, was told they are "complaint-based," meaning if nobody complains then nobody comes out to inspect. Then I was transferred so some other guy who examined an aerial photo of my neighborhood and said it would be okay to park my RV on the side. Fine. Two days later a Code Compliance truck is driving around. One neighbor had a pickup-camper in his driveway another had a short Class C in his driveway. Both had to move them.
