Hi Everyone,
I'm a traveling RN in a 2006 Itasca Meridian 36g pulling a 2020 Jeep Wrangler on assignment in Albuquerque.
I can't leave well enough alone. I was hoping there was someone that knows about the d/c circuits of my RV.
Here's my story.
I installed a 24 volt solar system on my RV with a step-down converter to run my RV's 12 volt system and my d/c refrigerator. I had to remove the stock fuse panel and add my own fuse block (WUPP boat/marine fuse block panel from Amazon). There were aspects of the system that I thought weren't as great as they should be, but it was working well enough. Then one night ...
I decided I would combine my RVs 12 volt system with my solar. When I connected one of the grounds my generator shut off. When I restarted the generator, the power pulled from the solar system's 30 amp step-down converter and let all of the smoke out of the converter. I just happened to have another converter and I installed that one. After that mishap, I thought it would be a good idea to keep the two systems separate.
While I was taking the RV's 12 volt off of the fuse block, that engine cable jumped out of my hand and hit that ground like a cobra going after a mongoose. Everything went black. I started looking for blown fuses and anything else that might have been affected. After resets and everything else, the generator starts and all of my electrical (12 volt and 110 volt) works fine. Same with the solar. The problem is that my engine won't start.
The engine will crank, but the voltmeter shows 0 volts. The ABS light is on solid. The check info center light comes on, and the info center reads, "no engine ECU comm over 25 seconds." Then, switches to read "ABS."
I've hooked an ANCEL HD601 scanner to the port and it reads a bunch of codes talking about an open circuit on the ABS. I've thoroughly checked every fuse I can find (front bay, driver's side back bay) and nothing. They're all fine.
Is there a fuse or fusible link on the way to the ABS? More importantly, where would I find the ABS? Or the ABS ECU?
I've seen a couple of threads that slightly touch on my tragedy, but if anyone can help with this specific issue, I'd be super appreciative.
Happy Thanksgiving!
