Cross Country w 2 kids and the pets

Hi all,

My family and I have been cross country RVing every summer since 2017 and plan on doing so again this year. We initially started out in a 2009 Keystone Outback 23RS pulled with our GMC Yukon SUV. This year will be the first year we go in a Class C - our new but used 2011 Winnebago Access Premier 26QP. We can't wait.

We're a bit scared about losing the mobility of our SUV once we get to Florida and want to wander around, but we are hoping it will make the trip from Vancouver, BC, there and back a bit more enjoyable for everyone.

Hoping to get some good tips and info from the group, and contribute if I can. Also hoping to one day take our dinette out and replace it with a non-Winnebago Sofa (since Winnebago said it would cost 5K to install one of their True Comfort sofas - ouch!!). I'm thinking we can do this ourselves and take out the dinette and somehow bolt in a reclining sofa. Wish us luck!

We also plan on doing lots of Mods to our new RV - the first of which is changing the walkaround Queen into a walkaround King bed. Who needs to hang stuff in closets anyways when you go RVing!! lol We will saw in half the long right side closet and enclose the bottom, making a new door from the old existing one...and then we will build an extension for the bed, making it a King. Can't wait. We did it in our Outback and it made sleeping soooooo luxurious and comfy.

Happy to join the community!

Welcome and enjoy you new to you rig. We have traveled without a toad and found that you can call rent-a-dent or one of those and get a cheap run a round car. No upkeep, and most deliver to your site.
