Check gas cap

Has anyone had a check gas cap message come up in the digital readout on the dash. I have installed a new Ford gas cap

Hi Brooks,
When I last checked a half a year ago, there was no locking gas cap available for my 2019 E-450. You can buy a locking gas cap that will physically attach & lock, but I do not believe they are rated for the correct sealing vacuum. I have not checked locking gas cap availability for the F53, so I am guessing here.
If you still have the original gas cap, I would give that a try to see if the warning light goes away.
Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks, Eagle5

I have 2012 aspect and yes did have the light 1 time. Pulled over and resealed and no issue thereafter. Also I had a lock cap but left it at a station and never had an issue in 200+ miles. replaced with screw in and still no issues.

My solution to the locking gas cap issue was to install a file cabnet lock on the fuel fill compartment door.

I was having other issues and thought it might be the gas cap so I actually bought a new factory gas cap and it was fine for 1,000 miles but now comes on when I start it up. I reset it and it's fine until I restart it

Hi Brooks,
I believe a check gas cap signal can also be generated from a leak in the gasoline evaporation condenser. Perhaps you might have a little plastic boxes with five or so hoses attached. Those hoses should lead to the gas tank somewhere. Not really sure without seeing it in person. I wonder if a code reader would give you a little more information?
Ugh.
