Winnebago vs. Fire Hydrant.

I damaged the right front fender skirt on my 2008 Winnebago Sightseer 35J. A dealer checked factory inventory & said a new one is not available because it is out of stock & out of production. Does anyone have a lead on a replacement from salvage or new old stock?

You might try contacting Winnebago directly. My understanding is that they maintain the molds for past models and can make just about any fiberglass part as needed.

That was my understanding also. If I recall from club member that have had it done comment that it isn't cheap.

X3. Call Winnie. I don't think the dealer was well informed. You may still want to use a salvage yard to save money but I believe Winnie does maintain all molds and tooling to produce another one for you.

Please define "fender skirt" for me. In my younger days, fender skirts were covers that fit over the rear wheels on cars to make the car look sleeker. I never heard of skirts on the front of any vehicle. Please enlighten me.

I had a door panel replaced on my '01 journey. I found the part number online at the Winnie web site and had it ordered by a dealer who painted it for me. Took some time and wasn't cheap but they did have the part. Do as suggested and try Lichtsinn.

Yes the name for this part is fender skirt according to similar finds on google searches for RV fender.

Just curious if you have checked with a good body shop, perhaps they could repair the damage, rather than replacing the entire skirt. Fiberglass is fiberglass, right? Just a thought.

The last time a dealer told me Winnebago did not stock parts I called Winnebago and they gave me the part number and other info required to set straight the dealer who did not want to bother with the relatively inexpensive part for me. The skirt is a pretty universal item and I would not be surprised if they had and one replacement that was larger than required the you just cut to fit the opening centering the wheel opening over the tire.

EXACTLY!

Here's a pic or two of some of the damage that occurred when someone moved our home, while I was backing up in our driveway. I was under the impression that I'd have to order up an entire new rear cap to our '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the C-7 330 CAT. But, when I took it to the RV repair specialists, they explained that, one, ordering from Winne for my new rear cap, and, getting it shipped to us, would take around 15-16 weeks.

Second, a part that large would be GAURANTEED to be damaged, by the time it go to us in So CAL.

Three, it would then have to be repaired prior to install.

Four, it would then have to be painted to match.

So, what he said was, "we'll repair it, way better than when it was new".
So, I gave him the "go-a-head" and, he was right. It does look seriously better it ever did new. Outstanding work and color matching. I've recommended them to several folks with damage to their coach, as I was recommended to them from others who've had theirs repaired prior to mine. Good luck.

I hit a deer a few years back and no parts were available at all for it. A local truck body shop and RV body shop custom made a complete fiberglass bumper and front section. The job was absolutely top notch.
