What is this thing?

I found this hanging in my water sewer compartment. Any ideas on where it goes? Thanks

It looks like a snap disc thermostat to control a water line heater or tank heater.

X2. Maybe for your floor heat system?

I agree that it looks like a snap type thermostat but there may be other methods to help ID the item.
One is to look for a pipe in the area and see if it has just came unsnapped off the pipe. Maybe a 1/2 inch copper pipe?

Another is to look at the yellow RVwiring and see if there is an ID stamped along the sides of the wires.

This first snip gives and example of what you might find, and then if you have the code, go to this site for the "magic decoder" list!

https://www.winnebago.com/Files/File...ical_guide.pdf

Secret to ease of use on the list is to bring it onscreen, hit "ctrl and F" to bring a search box, input the code and it brings a list of where that code is found in the list, so scroll through the potential spots until finding the "from and to" that fits your item?

But that assumes several things like the code is there and still legible, etc but still easier than crawling all around the RV in a bug hunt when somebody may have just added the item for some unknown personal use.

Maybe they liked their beer slightly warmed?

Also, just as a small point for folks who do notuse the decoder listoften, there is another way to possibly use it.
Say you have an item like this that yu are rpetty sure is a thermostat but can't get a code off the wires but want to know where thermostats might have been used?

When you go to the list, select the drop-down and input "thermostat" to getall the places that word is used in the list!
In this case, it is a big list as there are 51 places to search but if we look down the listing, we get to around 28-30 of 51 and begin to get info about floor heat zones????

Sometimes we have look at it like a game of "Clue" and have to hunt and peck to collect just the right clues to tell us what we need.

Take a close-up picture of that item against a plain background. Then use the right-click function of W 10 to search the web for the same item pictured.

That is a light bulb socket, minus the bulb.
For the compartment light.
