Webasto gas heater

Hello,
I have a 2004 Itasca Sunova 27C P32 Workhorse chassis 8.1 Vortec engine. I recently saw a video of a Webasto gas heater motorhome installation. Has anyone has experience with this product? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I never hear of the product, but it really looks interesting. Not needing to keep filling up with propane is nice.

One thing, looking at the brochure, is the blower fan uses from 1 amp to 5 amps of 12V battery power while heating the RV.

I remember seeing this install from RVing with Tito on YouTube. Pretty innovative. I’d love to see this in as OEM.

Hmmm! Sold by a UK dealer and the manual comes printed in Russian? I wonder if it meets US safety standards. I doubt it.

Where does the negativity come from?

It also appears as though the products sold by Webasto are used in vehicles in Europe & UK. I really doubt that Europe/UK's safety standards are much different that the ones in USA.

I don't know if US dealers sell gasoline heaters or if they don't.

I don't understand why people in the USA should assume gasoline heaters are bad just because we don't know IF US dealers don't sell them.

They are sold on Amazon, so the US and state governments don't have rules against selling them. Some states ban the sale of propane catalytic heaters. I don't think I would call Amazon a dealer though.

Probably Camping World doesn't sell them because there is no demand for them.

AquaHot heaters, installed in higher end RV's, are diesel fueled heaters, not unlike the Webasto heater in principle.

Not to mention the forced air propane furnaces, that are very common in our RV's, operate on the identical principle as the Webasto.

I just don't understand the negativity towards a product we in the USA know very little about.

Should be fine if it has a U.L. listing. Otherwise, I wouldn't consider it.

Interestingly I just looked at my Norcold fridge and I cannot find a U.L. label inside the fridge or on the back of the fridge.

There are other certification labels, but none for U.L.

I wonder if the Suburban & Atwood water heaters as well as the propane furnaces in RV's are U.L. listed.
