Vista LX buying experience

So, we’ve decided to upgrade our MH, a Thor ACE, which we just weren’t happy with. We settled on a Winnebago Vista LX 35F, and are in the process of selling our ACE. This Winnebago will be our first time with this manufacturer, and we are excited to get our new RV home. However, we don’t have the RV in our possession yet, and it’s taking longer than anticipated.

It started on November 10 when we found a great deal at Camping World, wrote a check for the down payment, signed initial paperwork, and scheduled a PDI for a November 18 pickup date. A week later CW postponed the PDI to December 2.

On December 1, CW called and said they couldn’t deliver again. No PDI date is currently scheduled.

I would venture to guess we aren’t the only ones who have experienced this.....

Is the problem Camping World? There must be plenty of other WBGO dealers that would deliver on time - and at a better price - if given the chance.

Vista LX buying experience

Well, there’s an interesting story there. It was the “better price” that brought us into Camping World in the first place. They advertised this 2017 Vista LX on sale, and the price was several thousand dollars below any other dealer - even nationwide. Amazingly, while we were there, Corporate CW dropped the online price another $2,000! That’s when we wrote the down payment check.

At the time, only the financing needed to be sorted out:
Option 1: We asked Camping World to Finance the Vista as a 2nd RV;
Option 2: We would trade in our ACE to CW. However, CW only offered half the retail price, so we decided to wait for option 1 (had to wait because it was Veterans Day and banks were closed).

The following week the GM at CW called and told us we “cannot have two RV loans”. That left financing option 2, which we weren’t crazy about. So, we got on the phone and called our local Credit Union - and were approved for a 2nd RV loan the same day! We then made plans to sell our ACE, and called CW back to let them know we’d be there on Nov. 18 with a check in hand - we had our own financing.

The next day the finance office at Camping World called and backtracked on the sale price; said it was only good if THEY provided financing for the RV. After haggling with them on the phone for two days, CW realized we had a signed ‘contract’ and they couldn’t get out of the sale price they had advertised on the internet. The sale was back on, and that’s when the first pickup and PDI date shifted to the right.

It’s a sweet deal, and worth waiting for. Just a bit trying, as we are anxious to bring our new Winnebago home.

We are awaiting delivery of our 35F. We purchased the RV at a show in September thru CW/Syracuse, and were advised to expect a 10-12 week delivery time - about now. The date now has moved to a "complete" date - 12/21, ship date 1/5/18 (due to holiday down times), but still no "delivery" date. We proposed setting a date of 1/17/18 (12 days out???), but cannot get a commitment. Because we live in MD, we need to set up air transport to Syracuse. The longer we wait, the higher the fares get... We are not only anxious, but frustrated with the process as well...

Patoc... you're waiting for a 2017 Vista LX 35F? That's what it says in your signature.

Wouldn't it be a 2018? After about mid-june the model year switches to the next year usually. If your Motorhome has been special ordered in Sept and hasn't been completed yet that looks even more like it should be a 2018 Vista LX 35F. Yes?
