Vista LX buying experience
Well, there’s an interesting story there. It was the “better price” that brought us into Camping World in the first place. They advertised this 2017 Vista LX on sale, and the price was several thousand dollars below any other dealer - even nationwide. Amazingly, while we were there, Corporate CW dropped the online price another $2,000! That’s when we wrote the down payment check.
At the time, only the financing needed to be sorted out:
Option 1: We asked Camping World to Finance the Vista as a 2nd RV;
Option 2: We would trade in our ACE to CW. However, CW only offered half the retail price, so we decided to wait for option 1 (had to wait because it was Veterans Day and banks were closed).
The following week the GM at CW called and told us we “cannot have two RV loans”. That left financing option 2, which we weren’t crazy about. So, we got on the phone and called our local Credit Union - and were approved for a 2nd RV loan the same day! We then made plans to sell our ACE, and called CW back to let them know we’d be there on Nov. 18 with a check in hand - we had our own financing.
The next day the finance office at Camping World called and backtracked on the sale price; said it was only good if THEY provided financing for the RV. After haggling with them on the phone for two days, CW realized we had a signed ‘contract’ and they couldn’t get out of the sale price they had advertised on the internet. The sale was back on, and that’s when the first pickup and PDI date shifted to the right.
It’s a sweet deal, and worth waiting for. Just a bit trying, as we are anxious to bring our new Winnebago home.
