They do this on pickup trucks too, and sometimes even higher than what the tire manufacturer recommends for maximum payload. My 2500 has the same recommended tire pressure as a 3500 SRW with the exact same tires. The 3500 SRW has 1,000 # higher rear GAWR. According to the tire manufacturer, I should have 60 PSI at my max rear GAWR, not 80. Even the 3500 would only require 75 PSI at max load. It would be nice if my TPMS alarm was adjustable, but 's locked down. I guess they assume owners are just going to load up their trucks with as much will fit, so they go with the maximum tire pressure for the load range, 80 PSI for load range E. I would rather deal with the TPMS warning than drive on concrete tires.
