Stair lock

Hi there. We are trying to build stairs for our Winnie, and are wondering if there is a way to 'lock' the stairs in, even when we turn the key and the RV is running. We have tried the 'on/off' stair switch, but they still come out when we turn the key in the ignition. The auto stairs will knock the other's out of the way and we can't figure it out. Please help! Thank you-

disconnect either or both of the power wires (positive and/or ground) to the steps. or get fancy and put in a toggle switch that will remove the steps from the power circuit.

Thank you! I also managed to find a similar thread which said to attach a magnet to the 'eye' near the bottom of the door. Ultimately, my husband moved the back legs of the new steps out of the way of the auto steps
