RV Storage Cost Skyrocketing

It's probably a local phenomenon, but in my area of SoCal, RV storage is hard to find and prices are jumping. I have been paying $219/mo. For secure, covered, space. They just raised it to $297. Calling around for an alternative i discovered almost ZERO availability within 30 miles of my home.

Anyone else experiencing these rate increases?

This is also the case in Northern CA (SF Bay Area). We are out in the Tri-Valley area, and it went from $150 to $200 just this year. They also have a 100 place waiting list. We were lucky as a couple of friends sold their RV and were going to keep the spot until they got a new one. So we are using theirs.

Closest places with availability are also 30+ miles away, out in the Central Valley. And most are not covered.

I think it is a result of COVID largely, so many people purchased a Covid RV, as we did.

Right-it’s related to the surge in pandemic RV buying. A fellow reported to me last week that he is having trouble finding new motor homes in stock at the two local dealers. Flying off the shelves, apparently!

I'm in the Sacramento area and we're paying $120/mo. for uncovered storage and the lot is full. Our last price increase was 1/1/21 when the rate went from $95 to $120, however, the $95 rate was lower than normal since it was mistakenly originally priced at a shorter length that the lot honored until the increase. I have yet to be notified of a 2022 rate increase.

I'm in Texas and started out 12 years ago at $95 a month, now up to $221 a month. We travel 4 to 5 months out of the year during the summer. I keep paying the monthly fee so I'll have a covered spot when I get back. There is a very long waiting list. I guess you could say, "Supply and Demand!" (Or greed.)
