Routing Advice Michigan to Calgary

We live in Sarnia Ontario. And would like to leave from Michigan to Calgary. If someone has traveled that route what would be the best and easiest way avoiding hills if possible. Any help is good help.

I drove US-2 from the Michigan UP to Montana but that was nearly 50 years ago. As I recall, it was a nice drive for a secondary highway. No excessive hills or curves but definitely no an interstate.

I-94 is the Interstate that will take you from Michigan to Montana and is a couple of hundred miles further south. It will take you thru Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis.

Thank you for replying. Would there be a shorter route from the blue waterbridge to Calgary, as this would be our first long route

We have driven on Trans-Canada 1 from Winnipeg to Calgary before. Great highway with a fraction of the traffic on I94. In July we drove from Winnipeg to Lethbridge. It was great. Then we took 3 over the Rockies until we met back up with 1.

Drive from Sarnia to Calgary

We drove the route from Alberta to the GTA area for the past two summers, the drive around Lake Superior is spectacular, although hilly, it is a drive to have tried at least once, Canada is a beautiful country, the Trans Canada highway is good, not busy at all, gets you away from the insanely busy Chicago area.
Reason we travelled through Canada is due to us having our own food and wine with us, if you cross borders you will need to have a basically empty RV, leave your booze and food at home, and you are forced to shop for your supplies once you cross the border, enjoy the drive whichever way you decide!

Definitely go via the Michigan Upper Peninsula. We've done it many times, and the US2 drive is usually pretty relaxing. Lots of lakeshore to see. After that, we'd just set the Garmin and follow the directions. It will probably cross you back into Canada at Portal/Estevan, but if the fuel prices are lower in the US, you might want to stay south of the border until you get closer to Montana/Alberta, then head north.
(p.s. we're in Sarnia, too)

I agree with the replies recommending US 2. It is all 4-lane divided highway, with a lot to see and do along the way.
Be sure to stay a few days in Havre, MT and see the sights, including the underground city from the 1900's.
