Recommendation for Road service
Looking for a good Recommendation for RV/Car road service? We live in lower Mi and travel around the Great Lakes area currently. But going to expand in a few years.

Pretty much all the usuals like Good Sam, FMCA, CoachNet, AAA are what most folks use. My Winnebago came with a year of CoachNet for free so that's what I've stayed with.
I suspect (but don't know) that they all use the same 3rd party call centers to do the job.
Are they all good? I assume they are all the same... as in not good but not all bad either.

This is by far not a new topic, many many post about the subject. However if you are like me I can never find the old post folks talk about. SO
I have Good Sam Roadside Assistance and have had for many years. Its the only one I can talk about from knowledge. Over the years I have used it maybe 3 times. Once for out of fuel in the middle of Utah the other two times for flat tires. All three times the response was with in a workable time frame. So no complaints in that department. One important thing to remember is ANY company you choose is Road Side Assistance not repair. There job is to get you off the road and to a repair shop etc.
Remember there are only so many tow trucks out there so each one will answer the call from which ever company you pick. Things to look for (in my opinion) in a company. How far are they going to tow you. Are they going to tow you to the first repair shop OR to a qualified repair shop. Read some of the fine print to make sure you are getting what you think you should be getting.
Good Luck

AAA has reduced their benefit on towing distances. We had AAA for over 25 years, paid for RV coverage for 15 years. We never had to use the RV coverage. This past year my bride and 83 year old MIL broke down and were stranded on the side of the road. AAA could not provide any service. A local farmer helped move the car off the road and gave them shelter until I could get there to help. We had to arrange our own tow, pay for it then file for reimbursement. They only gave excuses. In another incident earlier this year I locked keys in a rental car. They said it would be 24 hours before they could get to it. We did not renew. Currently we are signed up for 4 years thru RV Complete Care from Blue Compass which is administrated through Coachnet. So far we have not needed it. I am considering hedging my bets by signing up for FMCA Roadside.

We have had Allstate for over 20 years. We have had a tire changed in NY, towed to a Freightliner repair in Missouri 80 miles away and had a low boy (flat trailer behind a semi tractor) haul us to a casino parking lot near a Freightliner dealer in Flagstaff. I wanted to replace my upper radiator hose myself and Freightliner said no self repair in their lot. The dealer delivered the hose across the freeway to me at the casino. We have been very happy with them. The price has doubled in 20 years (less than $100 to almost $200), but it's worth it to us. Several companies we checked on over the years have limited miles or as someone else said, they take you to the nearest facility, not necessarily an authorized repair facility.

Each such company maintains a list of approved providers, and- each must call all of them to get the lowest quote for making the run before dispatching. Many of the providers bid on runs for more than one ERS company..
This makes what is provided by the ERS company more important than the name of the company.
Before buying one, read the fine print, so you know what you can expect to receive for your money.
I'm quite satisfied with the service I've received from Good Sam ERS (Allstate is the actual guarantor)
