Paint colors

Anyone ever had any luck with transposing Winnebago paint codes to something you can buy in a local store. From my research, their codes if for commercial coatings and local stores can't duplicate.

I need some white and Sahara Grey.

Try an automotive paint store. That is where we found ours. Needed some body work on a lower compartment door after wiping out the water supply post.

Yes, I know that an automotive paint store can match it but I don't have a part to take in for matching.

I just had a guy that paints planes paint mine. He told me that planes, boats, and RV's use the same paint colors. I don't know how true this is, but he matched mine perfectly.

Huh?? No easily removed refer or furnace access doors, no easily removed compartment door? Worst case, drive the coach to them on a nice day - after calling ahead of course!

If the coach has been stored outside and is more than just a couple years old, You may find yourself very disappointed in the results found if you were to get your hands on paint mixed to a code. Grays and whites are a nightmare to match without somebody that really knows what they are doing matching your paint for you. A local shop is very likely supplying all the area body shops with their paint. That's who you need to find/see. They're ability to match paint is what is making them the shop of choice.

After finding the code any automotive paint supply should be able to match.

The link does not seem to be working. Do a websearch for 2000 winnebago paint codes and that should get you there.

According to the winnebago website Your DuPont paint codes are Upper body color is bright white B8951. Sahara grey metallic is m1024. You will have to find a paint store that sells paint to auto body repair shops . They will put in your code and they should be able to create the formula to create your paint.

Already called all paint stores around here and none can convert those codes. They all say those are commercial codes only, not available to general public.

Hmm... I know on the BASF side of the house you had to find a large enough dealer and a wise enough "old man" who knew how to access the "manufacturer accounts" in the BASF system. The "commercial codes" you speak of have a formula - but it'll no doubt be in that manufacturer/commercial account database. Given that few paint shops deal with the manufacturer database it's no surprise you are having trouble.

I'd call Winne and ask them how a DuPont paint shop can access the "manufacturer" paint codes (or who at Winnie the dealer can talk to). At one time, I had the detailed instructions that Newmar gave me to give to the larger BASF dealers for how to look up Newmar's "manufacturer only" codes. How to do so was not common knowledge for the typical BASF store.

Another thought is to send an email to DuPont Performance Coatings (DuPont Refinish division) at the DuPont web site and ask them how a DuPont paint dealer can access the Winnie manufacturer paint codes.

CDI is the company that paints all Winnebago's.

They are located about 1/4 mile from the Winnebago factory.

Their number is (641) 585-5900.

Dave Nagle is the GM.

Just an FYI on something I just experienced with getting my truck painted.

Just knowing the paint code isn"t enough!!! The body shop painted my rear quarter panel 3 times before I made them paint the whole side. It's white.

I was told that you need to know the paint manufacturer in addition to the code because although the code may call for 3 drops of blue, Sherwin Williams blue will be different from Dupont's blue.

In my case, they had the Ford paint code for my truck, however, the white they painted was more creamy than the bright white my truck was.

Cdi only has codes for full body paint jobs and yes they did use sherwin williams but now use siekns, but if you dont have full body paint your coach is painted with dupont, you may have to go to a larger town to find a dupont store as it seems they are not as popular as they once were.

That's exactly the kind of problem I was thinking about in the prior note. You start with what's supposed to be there to get close, but you very often will need to modify that a little - and that's best left to somebody that really understands paint.

Hello All, I have had great luck with the local auto paint store scanning the gas door I removed from the MH. It solves all the sun damage issues and really matches well.

That's why you were told to go to an AUTO Paint store. They will sell Automotive paint to the general public.

"All the paint stores around here" are not likely to be Automotive Paint Stores.

Winnie's are painted with Sherwin-Williams Automotive paint. Only select S-W stores carry the automotive paint.

My Winnebago was painted with Dupont paint and the store in Macon Ga. is a Dupont automotive finishes dealer.

He could not convert the codes. I'm carrying in a sample tomorrow.
