New owner with awning question

I bought a 2003 Ultimate Freedom. It has a Colorado Carefree awning. When it is extended, it is not very high which causes the kitchen slide out to push up on it. I am afraid this will tear the fabric. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

ok...was thinking you might have a manual. on manual awnings you could extend the arms to raise the height once the awning was extended out. good luck getting it adjusted.

Many awnings have some type of adjustment on the side arms for setting how much they slope down when extended. Do you have a manual specific to your awning? If not, if you can identify the exact model number of your awning, maybe you can download a manual or someone with that awning can respond.

Edit: I have a Carefree TravlR electric awning that can be adjusted on the side arms.

Looking at pictures of the 2003 ultimate freedom units, it appears that the kitchen slide has a awning attached to it.

If thats the case on your unit the slide awning would provide a cushion for the main awning. When the main awning is extended does it show any ware in the area next to the slide?

As others have stated there may be some type of height adjustment on the main awning arms. I know I had one electric that had 5 or 6 settings controlled by push pin.

Good luck

It does have the awning topper on the slide and it is showing some stress on the fabric but not torn. Thanks for response.

Did you check Carefree's web site?
I have a newer electric awning that has a sliding adjustment arm, uses push and click type hardware.

I found the installation manual and I think that it is the way it is supposed to be.

I also have a carefree awning and if yours is like mine you should see a series of holes on the support arms and there should be one of the holes filled with a push button. You should be able to push the button in and adjust the arm to a new location. It will adjust from straight out to a pretty steep angle. If that does not work you can also call Carefree of Colorado and they will help with that.

Good luck

Yes mine does not have an adjustment like yours and I probably should call them Monday. Thanks.
