Need manifolds for W22 chassis

I have a 2006 Sightseer on a W22 chassis that needs both manifolds. I have been advised that the manifolds are no longer being produced. I know I could spend $1,500 on a Banks header kit but given the age of the RV I am loath to spend that much when I just need manifolds.

Do any of y'all have any tips for finding manifolds? Is it possible to get them used? If so, where?

Is it not just a Chevy 8.1L Vortec engine? Wouldn't any 2005 Chevy 8.1L exhaust manifold work on it? I say 2005 because usually the chassis is a model year older than the RV's manufacture.

Something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/164838722364

Apparently not. I have tried a few sites and they all say the manifolds are not compatible. The only way to be sure would be to take the existing ones off and compare with new ones, which is not feasible.

I can't tell without digging into the engine but the site this came from does not list the Workhorse W22 as available

Goodluck finding them, but RV wrecking yards may be a source. I am told they (almost exclusively) sell online.

The two big RV graveyards are Colaw RV Salvage and Visone RV.
https://colawrvsalvage.com/
https://rvparts.visonerv.com/

But in my experience they want to sell an engine, not engine parts. Best of luck.

Have you posted your questions over on the Workhorse Chassis forum on IRV2?

That would reach a lot more people and surely some with direct experience.

Here's a link to the forum: https://www.irv2.com/forums/f22/

Exhaust Manifold

Have a look at "Shorty headers" they are made to be a straight across exchange for cast iron headers. They are anywhere from $300 to $1500 depending on what you want IE: stainless steel, ceramic coated for less heat or plain steel! The Banks System is a kit with stainless pipes and a muffler.

Pricey OEM Exhaust Manifolds

Here are the exhaust manifolds you are looking for but they are pricey and in stock.

Go for custom headers. You don't need the whole system BANKS HEADERS.
The power increase from 50 to 80 mph is unbelievable.

According to that site the part numbers are 12557283 for the left and 12580304 for the right side and a quick search brought up a number of hits where they are available for substantially less.

Rock Auto has the 12557283 made by Doorman for $394.79

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...d%2BxXow%3D%3D

12580304 is out of stock at Rock Auto however it is a standard GM part number.

World Parts Direct in Texas has from GM the 12557283 for $657.54
https://www.worldpartsdirect.com/oem...ifold-12557283

12580304 for $328.37.
https://www.worldpartsdirect.com/oem...20Mopar%202.19

OEMCats has the GM parts too with the 12557283 for $614.92

GM 12557283 Manifold, genuine OEM part

12580304 for $293.89
GM 12580304 Manifold, genuine OEM part

Verify the part numbers through the WorkHorse parts suppliers and then search out best price on the internet.

Thanks. At that price the Banks would make more sense

Unless you can find a full set made by DoorMan which tend to be half the cost of the GM.

Here's a link to the Dorman 2005 Workhourse Custom Chassis W22 exhaust header.

https://www.dormanproducts.com/gsear...t%2520Manifold

(even though you have a 2006 Motorhome your chassis is no doubt a 2005)

This part is available on Amazon and a number of Auto Parts stores. It's about $370 per side.

The Doornan appear to be made of better materials than the GM and come with a Lifetime Warranty which increases their value. Getting more for less is a pretty sweet deal.
