Mystery Rattle Under RV

I think we traveled the roughest roads in the country on our most recent trip. Afterward, I noticed a rattle while standing next to our rig with the engine idling. After letting it cool down, I crawled under and noticed the part I'm holding in the attached picture. My guess is it rattles against the exhaust pipe, but I have no idea what it is. My first thought was it's a support for the exhaust pipe. But it doesn't align with the clamp. Anyone have a clue?

Hi Clyncher,
Could it be that an additional U-clamp component is now missing? It looks like an exhaust hanger to me.

Me too. It sure matches a tailpipe hanger on my Silverado and one on my MH. The rubber grommet is there to absorb vibrations instead of transmitting them to the cabin.

Rattle

That bracket is normally tack welded to the exhaust pipe

Thanks for all the replies. Strange thing - the Ford service people say to contact the RV dealer for support, and the RV dealer says to contact Ford. I'll keep digging. But you've confirmed my suspicion - exhaust hanger.

Thanks again!

That bracket was spot welded to the side of the clamp on the exhaust pipe. Mine came loose a while back and I reattached it with JB Weld which held for about 1,500 miles and came loose again. This time I took off the bracket and welded back together.

Dusty -
Thanks for the information. I had mine welded back together as you suggested and reinstalled it. Fingers crossed it'll hold for a good long time.

Thanks again -
