Hi folks. So, I have a worn out driveline parking brake. My repair guys say it's a non serviceable part. Does anybody know if the shoes inside this thing can be replaced or can the part be rebuilt? Ford E450 chassis. Part number
4C2Z 2649A. It costs like $1800 new from ford and then there's the $550 install.
Could you please post again and tell us the year, model and floorplan for your RV. It would sure help us all help you. We pretty much need that info every time you ask for help and advice on a problem.

While you are at it change the fluid in the reservoir on the brake assembly. It takes around a pint of ATF fluid. The nut is. 17 mm size. You have to extract the old fluid. Travato John.
Depending upon the year, but also check for an additional gearbox that’s covered by the parking brake. The only purpose is to drive the speedo cable, looks like it’s part of the trans tail shaft but it isn’t. Lube is separate. Had one with no oil a few years ago on a delivery vehicle. A used one was like $1,500.

If this is like the one on a 1996 Winnebago, it is a very dangerous job. There is a high spring tension to deal with. There used to be a man, Roger Haag in Oregon who specialized in these units. He established a shop for the purpose of rebuilding the systems. The drum and brake is part of the system. His forum name was "old used Bear". On the older motor home the unit was called "autopark".
This looks like too hard a job for me. I found a Chinese new part but I am suspicious of the quality thanks for all your help on this. I might just use my wheel chocks and not fret about the brake.
