2012 Itasca Suncruiser Ford V10 towing a 2014 Ford C-max Energi (approx 3,600 lbs). Try to keep speed 65 or less, higher downhill, slower on the upgrades to avoid high rpm's. We've had this set up since Oct 2017, now on our first cross country travel. Left Sun City AZ May 21st, passed through CO, WY, SD, ND & now in Northern MN. About 1,850 miles and averigin just over 6.7 mpg. Quite happy with this.

Mileage

On a trip to South Carolina in a March our Vista 35F got 8.5 mpg towing our toad a Ford Focus, I took the route down the Delmarva and across the Chesapeake a bay Bridge. Lots of lights but averaging 50-55 mph offset them I guess, I was pleased.

MPG

I get 6 to 6.5 mpg with my Winnebgo Sightseer 33C towing my Focus four wheels down. Travel mph is 60 to 65. Use ‘tow haul’ about half of the time, and generator is on about 20% of the time.

V10 mpg

Hi, Im not sure what size your RV is, but mine is a Sunstar 26HE. On uphill grades and mixed driving I get 8 MPG. On flat mixed driving I get 10 MPG. However, I don't push it as I am not in a hurry. Run about 60-65 MPH on the flat if its open road and what ever feels comfortable with the engine on grades. I use the tow haul button on the steep stuff both up and down grades. I like to keep the engine between 1800 and 2300 RPM.

There are companies advertising power, and efficiency increases for the V-10. This should mean better m.p.g. Has anybody used anything that gives us hope? '17 29VE 17K miles

I am looking for a used airplane nosecone to cut down on (wind) resistance. Pushing a billboard down the highway is not the most efficient way to obtain good m.p.g. Okay i'm done. '17 29VE toad dolly Kia Soul 17K miles 58 mph 6mpg with a tail-wind.

MPG is POOR

the ford V-10 is not going to get over 8 mpg on a really good day, unless you are going down hill or using cruise. I had one in my RV and my F250. cruise control usage is your friend. learn to stay at 2000 RPM or below if at all possible. keep holding tanks empty as possible. liquids add up. watch what you pack. do not overload it. keep it cool, the hotter you run it, the more the individual coil on cylinder system will heat up and casue a miss. those coils are $110 each plus labor.

Diesel is you friend in an RV, especially the MBZ chassis.

Good luck

I recently bought a 2016 Winnebago Minnie Winnie 27Q with the Ford chassis and Triton V-10. So far I've been out on the highway a couple times for relatively short trips, but the average mpg was 10 - 12. That's about what I expected.

Ford Triton V10 mpg

I have a 2015 Winnebago Vista that gets 10 mpg by itself and 6 to 7 mpg when towing a 3000# car. Maximum highway speed of 65 mph.

2006 Sightseer 29R towing 2011 Jeep Wrangler (about 4K lbs.). My average is about 6, and I try to stay at around 62 mph - that is about 2,500 rpm. I have the 5 speed and pretty much use Tow/Haul all the time.

This is exactly how I've been driving our 2010 Vista, with very similar results. 2014 Caddy SRX for a tow.
Yesterday I changed things up a bit - did 55 - 60 (generally right at 58) with cruise. Managed just over 7.5 mpg. This was on a 300 mile trip from Greenville, SC to Birmingham, AL. Not much for up and down, but a lot of traffic congestion with stop and go.
Think I willcontinue that scene for another few days and see how things pan out for us. Lots of longtime Class A drivers say speed is the biggest deterent to increased MPG. I believe them.

Have 2016 35F. I don’t tow anything, rent car when needed. Keep speed no higher than 65, and over the 9500 miles I am getting just under 8 mpg.

I have a new formula for figuring combined fuel mileage. When I drive my Winnie Adventurer 300 miles and I am towing my 2013 GMC Terrain on my dolly, it has gone 300 miles also. So we have driven a total combined mileage of 600 miles. If I use 42 gallons of fuel, it works out to 14 cmpg, which is my new acronym!
We all need to use this formula and acronym, to frustrate the "haters" who keep asking "yeah, but what kind of mileage does it get"?????

So, my best at 15.97 MPG with the Thor Citation towing the Fiat 500C nets me about 32 combined MPG. Cool. I like to do people miles per gallon. So, when the wife and I take four grandkids with us and get 7.5 MPG with the new Winnebago Sunstar LX 27N, I am actually getting 45 people MPG.
