Itasca question

I'm confused! I'm trying to help my neighbor sell her MH. We advertised it here on IRV2 and also on RVTrader.com.

I see the Navion 24J listed under both Winnebago and Itasca on RVTrader. When I look at the Winnebago listings I see the word "Winnebago" on the front cap. In the Itasca listings I see "Itasca" on the front cap!

Is the Itasca a separate division of Winnebago, with the Navion 24J manufactured under both divisions?

Thanks for your help!

Winnebago makes Itasca. They are essentially the same, except interior and exterior color choices. Winnebago dropped the Itasca name about a year ago, but has kept all the models i.e. Navion, etc.

For 2017 RVs, even the color choices are the same for Itasca and Winnebago. The only difference is the name! :-) in fact, I believe they are phasing out the Itasca name altogether.

Why was the same MH marketed under two different names? BTW, hers is a 2015 model.

We have an Itasca. It says Winnebago and Itasca on it along with Suncruiser. I guess I look at it like a GM, Chevy, Volt or GM, Buick, Enclave etc. Each a division of the other.

Having two lines allows them to give selling territory to two dealers in the same area. One would sell Winnie and the other Itasca.

First of all, since no one's clarified it for you. It all depends on what years you're speaking of. In the earlier years, like say the one we have, it's an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the C-7 330HP CAT. The same motor home manufactured by Winnebago was the "Vectra" model. There are differences in the colors, tail lights, head lights, interiors, cabinetry, and more.

Both of those coaches, were basically the top of the line for '04, for the general lineup. Winne had two top tier models above those but, #1, I forgot what they were called and, #2, Itasca didn't have any models above the Horizon.

As time went on, different models of Itasca rose to the top of the line model. In '04, when ours was made, the Itasca Meridian was #2 down from the top. But, again, as time went on, it rose to #1 in the lineup.

The differences between many Winnes and Itasca's over the years was comparable to GMC pickups and Chevy pickups of yesteryear. Almost the same pickup with more glorified accouterments on the GMC. But, as time went on, Chevy and GMC are pretty much the EXACT same truck now.

Itasca has or is, pretty much fading away and Winne will be only using their original name from that time on.
