Following the advice of some on this forum and others, I am getting RV insurance quotes from companies that do RV's. I currently have State Farm and with good coverage, except for replacement or agreed-upon value in case of total loss. I pay $537 annually.

Quotes from RV companies are all over the place. Gilbert quotes $837 but only offers actual cash value on used coaches..they do offer declining deductible. Foremost quotes $1,700! and will not offer replacement value or declining deductible. Local independent agent who offers Progressive said they will not offer anything other than actual cash value so I declined a quote. I may try Good Sam (GMAC).

I was surprised to see such variation.

We just signed up with RV Advantage - Farm and City. They had the best cost for comparable coverage including full replacement and declining deductable.

We have RV Advantage also. Progressive does offer replacement value, but only on the first two model years, so I missed out. RV Advantage offers replacement value, but only to original owner, so I missed out again. But RV Advantage does have purchase price replacement(this is purchase price plus sales tax), which is for 10 model years (providing you obtain replacement MH within 180 days). Another nice feature of RV Advantage is they offer $100 deductible for windshield replacement. My annual cost is $885, for $250,000/$500,000 BI, $100,000 PD, $500 Ded Collision, $250 Ded Other than collision, Diminishing Deductible, $750 Emergency Vacation Expense, Glass Coverage, $10,000 Medical Payments, $4,000 Replacement Cost Personal Effects, Purchase Price Replacement, $70,000 Scheduled Medical Payments, Reasonable Expense Towing Reimbursement, $250,000/$500,000 Uninsured/Underinsured, $100,000 Vacation Liability. This turned out to be cheaper than my policy with USAA, and has more features. Hope this helps.

DancinCampers:

I am being told by GMAC, Progressive and Foremost that some coverages are not provided in my state, Virginia.

I will check RV Advantage.

Thanks for the tip.

I dealt with Sherri, 800-331-1520

I'm not sure if they are state specific, we live in Nevada. The underwriter is National Interstate Insurance Company.

We just moved here from Virginia Beach, sure don't miss the I-64 traffic.

I am getting the impression that Foremost may not be interested in selling insurance anymore. My motorcycle insurance went from $ 700 last year to $ 1500 this year. Switched to Geico for $ 600.

I use RVAA for my RV insurance. This year was just under $ 375. Full coverage including replacement and declining premiums. But this is for a 5er.
