Good Sam RV Insurance Yay or Nay ??
If you have it, how has it worked for you? If you don't, why not? Thanks.

Can you be more clear about what type Good Sam insurance you are asking about?
Extended Service Contract insurance or Roadside assistance insurance? I don’t think they have conventional vehicle “accident” insurance but who knows maybe they do now.

I asked because of a promotional ad I received in the mail. Basically says over and over I am going to save hundreds of dollars by switching to 'Good Sam Insurance Agency' plus get a hokey tool kit as a bonus (sheesh !). To me this goes directly into the trashcan, but I thought I would at least ask on this forum. Thanks.

So, that sounds like an ad for an vehicle insurance brokerage setup by or for Good Sam. I would guess it's no difference from any other brokerage. There is a large agency in Forest City, IA - home of Winnebago - that offers conventional insurance agency services to a large number of other companies. It's FCIS Insurance https://www.fcisinsurance.com/
I use the brokerage at FMCA and they've been very good. I found out by reading the fine print that they are just that Forest City agency operating as FMCA brokerage.
If you like Good Sam (many don't... I don't) then ask them to quote you a price for insurance. Otherwise, if you are happy with your current insurance policy, company and agency throw the emails in the trash.

Nay
I have been dealing with them for two years and bought a lot of their deals. I find everything confusing, and I plan to let everything run out and switch some things to other companies and let some things drop as I find them worthless. One thing I bought was a reasonable price and when it automatically renewed, they charged me twice as much. Beware!

I have had NGI insurance thru the Good Sam Insurance Agency for 3 years now. Only claim was for a busted windshield on our towed. Every time I compare rates for 2 cars and the motorhome, they come out the cheapest. I am satisfied.

I have Good Sam's Insurance and I am satisfied
Good Sam's Auto and RV policies are run by National General Insurance. I have been using the policy for about 5 years now. The price has been exceptional for the RV because they keep the cost low for a person who is not using the RV full time. We are going to start using the RV full time next year, so I do see my insurance costs going up. I do like the fact that they understand RV better than most companies do. I have recently had to file a non-chargeable accident, and they have been helping me recoup my deductible and cost of repairs to my Toad Vehicle. My costs for insurance are very low like less than 50.00 for RV and less than 100.00 for my autos. With a $1000 deductible full coverage for the RV and Autos They do not cover motorcycles or boats, however. As it stands today, I have been very satisfied with the insurance, and it has been lower than other policies out-there and they seem to cater to people with RV Because I had just Auto insurance on my RV in the past and they were pretty not understanding that I have a house on wheels if I have an accident... Hope this helps...

We switched to Good Sam (National General) since they are RV specialists. Customer service was easy to work with. No claims yet. So, we can't comment on that. Best feature for us was the in storage feature where you can drop everything but the comprehensive while you are off road. All you have to do to reinstate coverage is call and use the phone tree.

I have my Class A insured (with everything else) @State Farm. I just drop all but comprehensive when not in use. This works for me. But I have had poor results using emergency road service since they farm this out to people who can't ever read maps!! Shucks, they probably don't even know what a road map is !!!

I have been using National General (Good Sam) for several years. Better price, reduced cost while stored for the winter, and better coverage for personal property in the RV. No claims yet so I can't say how well they do. Cars are insured elsewhere for a better price.
I have also had exceptionally good service from Good Sam Roadside Assistance on the two times I needed it.

Progressive raised my premium on the first year renewal with no claims, no reason; other than they could. I shopped every insurer, and Progressive was still substantially lower then all the others. I have no idea how good their claims service is. This year we are going without roadside assistance. Better to pay for help directly than get ripped off by insurers offering roadside, but not delivering the goods.

I left after 23 years and went to Hartford . I left because they were impossible to get on the phone with a human . You can be on hold for twenty or so minutes all the while the recording is telling you how important your call is . TRY CALLING THERE ACCIDENT NUMBER BEFORE BUYING .
