Flat top griddle or propane grill?

What is the best camp cooking unit? Don’t have room for both.

How about an alternate idea if you have small needs?
With only my wife and I, we wanted small propane grill to do things like set out on a picnic table to grill a couple burgers but we also wanted a griddle for times when we wanted to do pancakes, etc. but outside. We like veggies done on a griddle.

We find it works for us to buy one of the cheapest propane grills and add a seperate griddle to meet the shape and size to lay over the top of the grill.
I can't tell you now which brand either came out to be, but check for cheap!
Something like this one but I don't remember it being this expensive?
Then we shopped for a solid iron griddle to fit inside!

We use a Weber Q 1200 grill and bought their griddle insert that replaces one of the grates when we need a griddle.

I'm a converted griddle fan. Used a Q1200 for a few years but now use a 22" Blackstone Adventure,
Breaks down into 3 pieces, stand, base, and griddle top.

There isn't much you can't cook on a griddle. You can even smoke on a griddle. Go ahead, ask me how. Want to do a meatloafe? Yep, Gives new meaning to shrimp on the barbie. Don't loose any down the cracks. Want to enhance that. Add rice, peas, carrots and make a stir fry, Wanna do fajitas with the meat, onions peppers and what ever all at one time on the griddle.

Clean up takes less than 2 minutes.

Youtube is your friend for griddle cooking.

Which ever you decide, you'll do alright. No one way is every perfect.

An induction hot plate and cast iron skillet make a terrific griddle as long as you RV with shore power. Use it indoors or out and the induction plate works with other ferrous pans. Doesn't take much room to store. EDIT It also makes a great deep fryer because the cast iron retains heat when food is added to the oil.

Put me in the griddle camp. I also carry a smoky Joe and some characol for those times when a grill is essential, which hasn’t been very often since the griddle is so versatile.
