First 30 days and Winnebago service
It's been a month since we picked up our coach from Camping World in Ft Myers fla.
1. Water pump want turn on. Took to Ron Hoovers Houston and they fixed with tempoary ground. Returned on trip back. New relay installed..still bad. Pinched wire somewhere in coach. I'll live with having to manually ground pump as no big deal vs tearing coach apart trying to find wire and 3-4 weeks in service.
2. Majority of LED lights out as bad batch from supplier.
I Called Winnebago service. Said I would install it them if they sent to me vs having to take to dealer and wait 3-4 weeks. No problem, 24 new LED lights are being sent to me.
3. Transfer switch failing. It flipped out at 2am in Hilton Head SC. Ran gen set until morning. Opened transfer cover and tapped with hammer handle..worked and no further problem until back home and parking.
Called Winnebago service explained problem. Said I would change out if they send part. No problem..part on the way. And again I don't have to wait for 3-4 weeks in shop.
I am totally satisfied to this point. And with only two minor problems I couldn't be happier.
I now realize how important buying from a quality dealer is. I didn't purchase from Ron Hoover but I wish I had.

After the experience I have had with a new 2016 Forest River Cardinal fiver, (4 months old) that is still in the shop after two months for warranty work that I will sell when ever I get it back .(roof peeled back, pantry fell out (I fixed), refrigator fell out, 2 cabinet doors fell apart (I glued back), all led lights bad batch, bed frame caved in (I rebuilt while waiting on Camping world to repair slide outs) rear valance fell off (I repaired) slide outs failed completely ..twice..The experience I've had with the Winnebago is AWSOME.
Over all quality 100 times better.
Did I mention never buy a Forest River product.

Texasranger, great to hear about your experiences with Winnebago customer service. We also found them to be top notch. Good luck with your RV and may you have many trouble-free miles!

Glad to hear you are loving your MH.
Why not make arrangements now for service in November to get the ground fixed on the Water Pump. Make them work on it and that way you have it back by next spring, maybe.
Now as far as the dealer, well. I have to say that the Sales Person side of a dealership is what usually sucks. They promise the world and can't deliver and to make matters worse some even follow up after the sale. They don't care as long as they are making that sale.
The service departments can be pretty bad sometimes also. Most don't want anything to do with a new coach because they don't make any money on the repairs, no matter how long it takes. But if you want something added or updated or fixed not under warranty they may love you to death.
So I say choose the dealership with the better repair department t buy your coach from, not the better sales department. To me it's the after the sale is done that is more important than the sale.
Just my .0001 worth

That transfer switch failing at 2 am, sounds more like an EMS shutting off power, for some reason or other. Are you positive the transfer switch is bad ?

Yes. I received the switch Friday and installed yesterday AM. Everything works now.
Most people don't know that the current factory switch has built in surge protection and end up buying another.
I also ordered a manual transfer switch from Home Depot to keep as a spare incase the automatic one goes bad out in the boondocks.

This brings us a question about Camping World. If you buy a RV from Camping World in one city, can you have it serviced at any of the Camping World's nation wide under warranty?

Only if they are a Winnebago, Winnebago Journey dealer. New Braunfles camping world is a Winnebago dealer but for Winnebago Itasca. Texas dealers law franchise requirement is to blame. It may be different in your state. Crestview in Buda is the closest for me for service and Georgetown.

We just returned from a one month trip, our first in our new GT QL. We had a list of 10-15 things that concerned us, dropped it off where we bought it (LaMesa RV, Mesa, AZ), and told Dominic what bothered us. A week later he called, and the list is done.
So, compared to the new 2006 Newmar Essex, and the pages of problems we had after the first month (including having to be towed), we feel very lucky, and very happy, both with Winnebago and LaMesa RV.

Texas Ranger, I live in Ft. Worth. The Camping World in Ft. Worth seems to have a weird relationship with McClains. I believe they do each other's service. I see that the Katy Camping World has good deals on Winnebago's. But of course, I would like to have Camping World in Ft. Worth service the RV. McClains has told me they service their own customers first! What a strange industry.

I purchased mine in Ft Myers fla as it was $20,000 less there. Ron Hovers is the same way. They only do emergency type repairs on non customers. But if your a customer you get AWSOME service.

What did you order from Home Depot? Do you have the part number?

Transfer switch in, all new LED lights in, took two hours. Blue Ox brackets installed on Jeep, washed the coach, organized outside storage. I'm making a custom 7 way trailer plug so the brake buddy runs off coach power and saving the jeep battery. I attempted to adjust angle of drivers outside mirror. Loosened all 3 hex screws...no way. Anyone know how to do it. Tires aired up. I may be running out of things to do.

But Texas Ranger- you live in Texas. Where do you go in Texas for service if you bought in Florida? Will they give you the time of day?

Ron Hoover did one, what they consider an emergency repair with the water pump. They will schedle me for any warranty repair but I have to wait until December January when they are slow. They do have a great service Dept.
Winnebago has been great in sending me necessary parts and I would rather do any repairs myself. I know it's done right and nothing else screwed up.
Plus I dont have to take and leave at dealer for weeks.
Crestview in Georgetown will do repairs if I absolutely can not do them.
On a previous RV they had to replace the whole outside wall under warranty.
