Seems like the same old Winabagel story....do not accept the coach until it meets your expectations....if we keep accepting shoddy workmanship they will keep building it that way......shame on Winabagel....

Dengraham, I am curious as to why you think that, after spending a lot of money for a new MH, it is OK to have to drive it back to the factory to have them do what should have been done right the first time. Sorry, but that makes no sense to me. I'll agree that the vendor supplied stuff is, by and large, cheaply made junk but that still doesn't let Winnebago off the hook. They set the specs and they should make sure that the stuff works before it leaves the factory. Instead they use their customers to do the final quality control of their products. To add insult to injury the lemon laws in most states do not cover motorhomes. On top of everything else, IMHO, their dealers are pretty much oblivious to the customers problems after the sale. I too enjoy rv'ing, that's why I've been doing it for 30+years but what fun is it anymore when all I, and probably many others, wonder about what's going to break next. In closing I ask this: If Winnebago built airplanes, would you fly in one?

For one thing, it is a common issue regardless of manufacturer. We expect new units to have some issues but signs of poor workmanship tend to be most aggravating. I think most of the commentary was from that point and not directed at Winnebago directly.

Secondly, as mentioned, there are prospective Winnebago owners that might be interested in this. Just as much as they would be interested in new owners of any brand and their initial experiences.

Former 2006 Winnebago Adventurer 38J owner without an axe to grind.

Is that what you were doing when you posted on the Tiffin, Thor, and National MH websites?

400K...that's more than my house cost, and we would NOT accept workmanship like that - and we didn't.

400K is not a 'lower priced rig.'

Why don't you just run away from this deal, OP. I would not take it. No need. There are way more new RVs then buyers. Might try another brand or find another Winnie. Like Johnny Cash sang, TAKE THIS RIG AND SHOVE IT!

Agree with sentiment.

Update: we are scheduled to reinspect and road test this afternoon. Hopefully the dealer will have resolved our initial punch list ie slide failure, leaking sinks, marred finish on the paint in several spots, etc etc. we will post the results here. Thanks to all who commented intelligently and on point.

Wineluvrs: We purchased a 2012 Tour from LazyDays in Tampa. Their techs fixed all the small stuff and we left.

This Tour has been relatively maintenance free. Any problems were suppliers equipment, mainly the camera system now fixed. While at the WIT rally we had routine maintenance, like our delayed front end alignment after weighing.

Many people full time in their motorhome, however, there are no real building, plumbing, NEC codes as a stick house must follow. Only the "standards" the industry wrote for themselves. But even then something like a leaking sink would be a punch list item. The plumbing is pressure tested without the sink installed. The slide is serious and stay on them.

Good luck, Kerry

PS: I see by Bob Geds post that David has his microphone on the highest mountain and shouting "Look at me". Just what I expected from him.

If everything is not perfect when you inspect the rv today, I would walk away. That is the intelligent thing to do. This sounds like a coach that could have future problems and cause lots of sleepless nights.

Good Luck! I hope you get things resolved to your satisfaction. The biggest issue will be to avoid the emotions that must surely be involved with this whole affair.

HANG IN THERE!

According to their blog, these folks are starting over after "being invited" to Red Bay. Mr. Tiffin wins this one!

I so wish there was a "Mr. Winnebago".

Please factor in that many of us owned Winneys in the past, and may have knowledge to pass on.

I think Winnebago was smart in declining to sell them a motor home. Some people can not be satisfied.
