The old fridge used maybe 1/2 amp to run its controls and gas solenoid. Your new compressor fridge uses ten times that amount of current. They probably wired the DC to your old fridge with 18 gauge wire. That results in a large voltage drop of maybe 0.5 volts which may be part of your problem as lower voltage produces more heat in the compressor and doesn't perform as well.
So replace the wire with at least 14 gauge and check the converter fuse and increase it to 10 amps if it isn't already.
The other thing is that cooling of the condenser on the compressor fridge may not be adequate. If you just replaced the old with the new and didn't change the outside vents, then you might not be getting cooling air to the condenser. See if any air is getting to the condenser. Also you may need a 12V computer fan to improve the air flow.
