Disney world trip
Can anyone recommend a RV park near Disney World other than Fort Wilderness?

If you're going to spend any time visiting Disney World's parks, there are many advantages to staying at Fort Wilderness. If you're just visiting Orlando, look here:

We were at Ft Wilderness back in May. We went down a day early and stayed here, http://www.thousandtrails.com/florid...ndo-rv-resort/. It is a very nice park right outside of Disney. You can even see the EPCOT fireworks from the park.

I'm not much of a KOA fan, but the SE Orlando KOA at Lake Whippoorwill was actually very nice.
Great shopping nearby and easy access to the highway to go to the parks or downtown.
Lots of amenities for a KOA.

I would recommend the Orlando/Kissimmee KOA. It is about 5 mile from Disney. the campground is very clean and seems to be well run. It is fairly close to I-4 and very close to shopping and restaurants.

bobbyl We took our kids and grand kids in June last year and stayed at Fort Wilderness. We had one RV site and 3 cabins. It was a great experience everything is close and you do not have to drive anywhere.

We have stayed twice at Tropical Palms in Kissimmee and have been very satisfied.

Just my two cents, I agree with the others who enjoyed Fort Wilderness. I just stayed there last month, and my family and I totally LOVED it. Yes, it's expensive, but in my opinion it's worth every penny!

Before you make reservations anywhere off the Disney property, compare the price with Fort Wilderness. No doubt Disney will be more, but probably not as much as you'd think. Remember too, if not staying on the property you'll have to pay to park ($18 per day) every time you go to any of the Disney theme parks or be dependent on someone else's shuttle service.
There are other perks to staying at the Fort too, like - you can rely completely on internal Disney transportation, should you like and there will be early entry hours for resort guests - you'll get in well before the big crowds and can get some of the most popular rides in then, saving your fast passes (another perk of staying on the property) for other rides later in the day.

Encore Lake Magic is near Disney world, that said reconsider the Fort, food in Disney is expensive, parking is expensive. You can eat in your rig and use the Disney transportation, you also get early and extended time entry to the parks. If it is just 2 of you the extra $18 a day parking and buying meals may not make a difference but the RV parks mentioned are all very nice and not far from the park. You can check the rates online for the diff parks, the Thousand Trails park is around $56 a day and 6-7 miles from main gate, Encore is about 5 from the main gate, Tropical Palms is behind Old Town amusement center if you plan on visiting that .
