Coach Door Strut Position

My coach entry door gas strut fell completely off. Can someone verify for me which end of the strut is attached to the door? In other words, is the thin rod end attached to the door or the coach?

Hopefully that makes sense, if not let me know.

The gas rod on my Minnie Winnie is also mounted with the thin end to the door frame.
