CCC of Gasser Winnebago/Itasca

I am shopping for a gas motorhome in the 29-33 foot size. One thing I have consistently noticed is the Winnebage/Itasca has a greater CCC that is greater than comparable makes and models of the same size. Some, like Tiffin, the CCC of the W/I is twice that of a Tiffin. Fleetwood, about 25 plus greater, Thor, Forest River and Newmar about 25%-50% range. Can anybody she any light on what this it is? I know some use different sizes of the Ford Chassis and count for some of the weight, but does not explain all of it. Any thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Although CCC is a buying tool when considering any RV. The buyer has to be aware of certain things. First and foremost most times the number is not always completely accurate.
From there the numbers get even more confusing.
Most manufacturers don't weigh individual RVs as they leave the assembly line. So the CCC listed, can be way off. Factory installed options e.g. double door fridge, tile floors, roof racks & ladders, are often not deducted from the CCC of a particular unit.
You also have to read each sheet carefully to see what is included in the calculation. Some allow 145 lbs. in the calculation for the driver only , where others allow 145 lbs. for each seat equipped with a seat belt. Others include the weight of a full tank of water, in the coaches weight before the CCC is calculated.
The base model of my coach listed a 5,000 lbs. CCC in the brochure , the sheet, in the coach lists CCC as 3,785 lbs. 1,215 lbs of factory options.
Newmar, at that time weighed each coach and produced an individual sheet for every unit. Still some room for error as dealer could add options too.
The sales brochures for my coach has 2 pages dedicated to option weights, right down to a listing of one pound for the C/B radio , " prep package."
If CCC is a big concern , and you think you may be close to being over weight, loaded. Take the coach out and weigh it before you buy.
There have been other posts , where on factory orders; Tiffin, buyers have specified a higher GVWR chassis , to improve their unit's CCC.
The other differences ; in units of the same length; can come down to the quality of the build, materials used etc.
JMHO. I'd trust the accuracy of , Tiffin's , CCC listing , over some of the other manufacturers you listed.

I can't shed any light on why, or even attempt to praise or bad mouth any other manufacturer. What I can tell you is my 32 1/2' 2014 Itasca Spirit 31 K, on an E450, the same MH as the Winnebago Minnie Winnie has a sticker on the driver's door which says the OCCC is 3,275#. Subtracting that from the 14,500# GVWR means the MH weighs about 11,225#.
With my wife and I in the MH fully loaded for camping, with about 3/4 tank of fuel and maybe 15 gal. in the fresh water tank, the vehicle weighed 11,940#. That was 4,120# on the steer axle and 7,820# on the drive axle. That left us 2,560# under our GVWR.
It also has a 220" wheel base which works well for that 32 1/2' length.
Needless to say I was quite happy, and surprised, with those numbers.

One of the sticky links at the top of this forum connects to a look-up tool, by year, for all Winnebago MH's spec sheets, since 1999-I think.

I found my Winnie Minnie 31h's CCC to be luxurious next to Jayco Greyhawks. The Jaycos I looked at ranged from 1400-1900 pounds, whereas my 31h came in at a little over 2900. This was the fundamental/primary reason we went with Winnebago.

We decided on a Minnie Winnie 31KP. I weighed it fully loaded a few weeks ago and we had over 1,000 pounds to spare - that was with full tank of gas and fully loaded with groceries, etc. I did NOT weigh front and back but that was the total weight. I was at a truck weigh station and the guy was nice enough to weigh me but he was not very patient so I didn't get the front and back but overall it was nice to know I was about as loaded as I plan to be and still had a good bit of wiggle room.

Our dealer was able to call Winnebago and give them the VIN of our coach. Winnebago was able to give the dealer the axle weights at the factory with full gas and propane. I have almost 1900 pounds available on the REAR axle alone - I know I'm not packing anywhere near that.
