Best extended warranty

Any suggestions for purchasing an extended warranty on a new 2014 MH (Itasca Meridian 34B). Like at initial purchase, when factory one is about to expire, length of warranty, coverage - motor, gen, trans etc.

We have XtraRide warranty on our 5'er. Made one small claim a few months ago and was approved immediately without hassle. Dealer originally asked over $3000 for the $100 deductible warranty. Said no and they came down to $1600. Don't over pay!

You have a new MH, buying now, from the dealer is not prudent IMO. I would wait until the factory warranty is about to expire and buy independently from the dealer. This give you at least a year to shop for the best deal.

Read any extended service contract closely-every word. An exclusionary contract (it is not a warranty) specifies what is NOT covered, by omission everything else is covered. This is easier to absorb and understand what you are buying than an included contract which states what IS covered, by omission anything not mentioned is not covered. I don't know every part of an RV, so would not know if I'm spending my money wisely.

I would recommend buying the "seals and gaskets" rider, whichever company you decide upon, otherwise if an engine or transmission seal blows and the oil leaks out while driving, you are NOT covered for any damage resulting from the leakage.

Seals and gaskets coverage could be a good thing. They add up in a repair. There is an option called "consequential damage" that will help you.

Wholesale Warranties is expensive. Look around. You want 4+ years. A comprehensive exclusionary contract is what you want. You can dicker on the price. They buy their contract from a wholesaler, mark it up 40 to 100% and sell it to you.

We bought our unit listed below in Apr 2013, It has 20,000 mi. on it and bought our warranty the Wholesale Warranties, and a 7 year contract cost us $4000+ for the Platinum plan they offered. Have used it twice so far with no issues at all.
