Awnings

Noticed the other day that the big slide topper awning is starting to tear by the roll end, RV wall side.

Anyone have a method to fix this or prevent it from tearing more?

I thought of using the white tape used on the roof, can't remember the name of it.

Comments??

daysu47, I have had this happen to me a couple of times. The resolution in both cases was to R&R the topper. I can't suggest anything that will offer a temporary repair.

The brand name you are looking for is; "Eternabond" I don't believe it'll help but give it a shot.

I patched two of my toppers using awning tape available at Camping World. It's held for about three months now. I know I'll have to replace them at some point but for now, the $10 investment has paid off.

I had a small tear on the edge of both my my toppers. I used externabond about 2 plus years ago and has worked fine so far.

Daysu47:
I just replaced the slide covers on my '05 and they were worn. I tried the clear tape but it finally dried-up.

I met Shade Pro in Quartzsite AZ this Jan and it is a good company and they know what the business. Measure your existing covers and call them. The install was not hard just beware of the spring tension. Mine unrolled and I had no problem re-tensioning the roller (13 turns). Just get a friend to help you. Take a picture of the positioning anti-unrolling arm prior to starting project.

Good luck
